Overall the place is nice to stay, however a bit overpriced for a 2-star hotel. That said we were here during 'peak season'. The rooms are dated, but speaking to the manager she said that they try and keep things as modern as possible.
The room is comfortable but as stated, dated. The pictures make it look much larger than it really is - but then, you are only in there to sleep -- but a room for 4 would be tight if there were actually four in there. We had three - two adults and one teen so we had to time who was doing what so we don't keep bumping into each other. :-)
There are little things you spot in the room that make you go "hmmm"... but I'm really attentive to details and it drives me nuts to see things out of place. For example, drill holes in the tiles but looks like it was an error and they were not filled in but just left.
Few places where the carpet meets the tile floor (in the entrance) the pieces to join the carpet and tile did not meet.
Our tub would not drain, we reported it to the manager and it was promptly fixed the next day.
Walls had splashes of coffee where the coffee machine was.
The room was a little musty when we got in, but my wife and I are very sensitive to smells so we went over to the dollar store and picked up a couple of air fresheners. Perhaps the hotel should look at doing something similar.
The beds were VERY comfortable, but the pillows a bit too soft.
The A/C worked - TOO WELL! I like it cold, but had to turn it off or increase the heat so it's not freezing inside the room.
Our room only had a fridge, and coffee maker (others have a microwave) - we only used the fridge and it did work great. Kept our bottled water, and pop bottles very cool. The hotel did offer continental breakfast but we did not take advantage of it.
The pool, and hot tub is nice - but the pictures make it look larger than it really is. Four adults in the hot tub and it would be full. It is ideal for a family with young children to keep them occupied and always seemed to be in use when we walked through the lobby and to our car.
Housekeeping is OK but we noticed that they don't seem to vacuum - we found some "nuts" on the ground (not ours) and 3-days later they were still there.
It's location is very convenient as you're close to the freeway so if you want to head out to West Edmonton Mall it is easy to get to. There is plenty of other shopping areas close by also.
There are also a lot of restaurants in the area - from inexpensive fast food to moderately priced as well as all types of cuisine (Mexican, North American, Lebanese, etc.,).
The hotel DOES NOT have a shuttle from the airport, however there are private shuttles but they are expensive so you may be better off taking a cab (depending on the number of people).
Overall we are happy with our stay here and if you don't care for "no frills" then this is the place to go. Place is very quiet even with many families and it appeared that they tried to keep families with young children on the lower levels as I never once heard anyone running on the top floor or any noise from the rooms beside ours.
Remember -This is a TWO-STAR hotel. If you are expecting 3, or 4 star level service you will not get it. This is not meant to knock the staff working here, they do their best with what they can. Yes there are several other options close by. Know what to expect from a two-star hotel and you...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at Super 8 Hotel, and I must say that my experience was absolutely fantastic. From the moment I arrived until the day of my departure, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the rooms, the exceptional support provided by the staff, and the overall organization of the hotel. Additionally, the poolside area was a delightful addition to my stay.
Let me start by commending the cleanliness of the rooms. It was evident that the housekeeping staff takes great pride in their work. The room I stayed in was spotless and maintained to a high standard throughout my entire stay. The linens were fresh and crisp, and the bathroom was immaculate - everything one would expect for a comfortable and hygienic stay.
The hotel staff truly went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant and memorable experience. From check-in to check-out, they were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with any inquiry or request. I was particularly amazed by their willingness to go the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable. Whether it was providing recommendations for nearby attractions or addressing any concerns I had, their support was invaluable and greatly appreciated.
Another aspect that impressed me was the overall organization of the hotel. From well-marked signs and easy-to-navigate corridors to prompt room service, it was evident that Super 8 Hotel values efficiency and guest convenience. It was refreshing to find everything well laid out, making my stay stress-free and enjoyable.
Lastly, the poolside area was a wonderful addition to my stay. It provided a relaxing and enjoyable space to unwind after a day of exploring. The pool was clean and well-maintained, offering a refreshing respite from the summer heat. Whether I wanted to lounge by the water or take a refreshing dip, the poolside area truly enhanced my overall experience at Super 8 Hotel.
In conclusion, I highly recommend Super 8 Hotel based on my recent stay. The cleanliness of the rooms, the supportive and helpful staff, the great organization, and the delightful poolside area combine to create a truly exceptional hotel experience. Whether you're in town for business or leisure, Super 8 Hotel is an excellent choice that won't disappoint. I look forward to returning on my...
Read moreI wanted to save a buck - so did they. Our room was right above the breakfast area, so that was nice as we have a toddler that runs around a lot. However, the room was FILTHY, anywhere from blood marks on the sheets (which we sold it to ourselves by believing it might've been chocolate) to dried grapes, pieces of candy, fingernails, little rocks, you name it. The walls even had a nice dried out splat of liquid dripping down (and I don't want to know what that is). The microwave was dirty from top to bottom. Remote for tv was missing the battery cover. Bathroom was in bad shape with some towels that had seen better days.
Two things we did on the first day - alert them about the Remote, and complain about microwave. Night clerk solution? Give them 2 sanitizing wipes and ya good to go.
Ok, so nothing will be done here, this is a booking.com reservation so the hassle to cancel and refund is harder than to just endure 4 days. That's what we did - we focused on the positives: the location and the pool (which was also pretty dirty and had sand at the bottom).
We spent our days as much away from our room as one could be, returned at night for our daily 'pool routine', showered and went to bed. The breakfast shenanigans and excuses ("oh we just had a visit from health services so no juice or toast for you") are just the cream of the crop - might as well axe it entirely: covid has become the perfect excuse for everything now. I guess the Hilton in Sask or our resort in Banff didn't get that same memo.
On the last day, they sent someone with some new remotes that didn't work, both of them. Overall, some understandable flaws, some serious issues and a feeling of 'welp, for the price...', which shouldn't be anyone's standards to conduct and make business, but hey, this pandemic is surely a great crutch for all business practices - slap'em with a housekeeping fee next! And I assure you I wouldn't mind that if the room was minimally clean. Welcome to...
