Male Host upon arrival was friendly and warm. Our waitress unfortunately was not so warm and it was difficult to get her attention despite waving at her multiple times as she walked towards and past our table on a number of occasions avoiding eye contact.
I had a prawn appetizer and a steak and butternut squash ravioli. The prawn appetizer was flavourful but undercooked -- the first one I bit into was raw inside, and another one was clearly raw (the tail half). When I informed the waitress, she apologized and took it to the kitchen. A few minutes later, my partially eaten plate (including the prawn tails) returned with my remaining, now overcooked and rubbery, prawns on it. I was surprised that the restaurant did not remake it, or at very least replate it. Neither was the dish discounted on the bill. Very disappointing and not the kind of customer service I was expecting from a chophouse.
The main was okay in terms of flavour but the presentation was very poor and the portion size smaller than what I would have expected for $38. The steak, which was not tender and very hard to chew through, was swimming in some sort of very watery sauce (my guess was maybe au jus mixed with what seemed like a lot of blood from the steak). The butternut squash ravioli was sitting in a cream sauce on the same plate, and the sauces just ended up mixing/blending into an unappetizing mess of creamy, bloody, au jus.
I wanted to like this place as we came for a special occasion and it was recommended to us, but I don't think I'll be back. I was disappointed in the service and value/quality for the money.
My friend did like the artichoke dip and said her main (chicken parmesan with truffle gnocchi) was not bad, which is why I am giving it 3-stars as an...
Read moreI chose this restaurant based on its claim of being in business since 2004, which suggested a level of experience and consistency. My wife and I ordered dinner — she had the seafood linguine, and I had the blackened chicken with prawns. Pricing was generally on par with what we’d expect in Vancouver.
The seafood linguine was fine. The blackened chicken, however, was underwhelming. It lacked sear, spice, and any real Cajun flavour — falling short of even the basic standard you'd find at places like Earls or Cactus. The prawns were placed directly on top of the chicken rather than plated separately or even adjacent which led to clashing flavours due to inconsistent seasoning.
Service was a low point. Our waitress, Erin, only interacted with us three times — to take our drink order, dropnoff drinks and take our food order, and drop off the food. She never checked in during the meal or returned to offer the bill. We had to ask other staff twice for assistance — once to request a pasta spoon and a second time to ask for the bill.
Several tables that arrived at the same time finished and left before us. The staff appeared disorganized overall, and the lack of a section-based service system contributed to a slow, scattered experience.
Would I return? No. With many other dining options in Squamish offering better service and more consistent quality, I’d continue...
Read moreVisited for dinner and it was a very busy Fri evening that felt festive and lively. Despite the business, service was overall prey quick and efficient. We were seated right away when a table was available, menus and water was supplied and we were soon able to place our orders for drinks and food. The wait for drinks seemed a bit long, but we could see that the only bar tender working was busy with lots of orders as it was a full house and as soon as our drinks were poured, they made it to our table pretty quickly (we were seated near the bar and could see all the activity). The steak was beefy and had a nice char, and fries were nice and crispy. The Parmesan chicken was tender with a nice crust, and the truffle sauce matched the side of gnocchi. The side Caesar was a bit over dressed for my personal preference but I can see it being perfectly fine for those who like a saucy salad and it was very tasty with nice garlic notes. We left very full and very happy. This lively restaurant is definitely worth revisiting whenever we are in or driving through...
