On July 16, 2019 we took our friend from Toronto out to dinner at Cerdo. She is a well known luxury travel consultant. I’m sorry to say that the experience at Cerdo was not good at all. Our waitress paid no attention to my specific request for no cilantro on my Queso Fundito with chorizo. I had to send it back as I have very adverse reactions to cilantro. The cilantro was scraped off and was delivered back to me. I must say, I have had this dish at the very least two dozen times at this restaurant. I was very disappointed in the taste of the dish this time and it was not at all like any of the other times I’ve had it. When I told our waitress that I was disappointed in my meal, she just shrugged me off and walked away. Before the ice cream that was ordered at the beginning of the meal was delivered, she produced the bill. When she was asked about the ice cream, she seemed very put off that we were asking for the dessert. My husband asked to speak with the owner so that we could let him know about our experience, the owner came to our table and got very aggressive and argumentative. I told him that this queso fundito was not like I have had the two dozen other times. He told me that he has not changed the recipe and that I must be wrong. I used to manage a very high volume restaurant in Toronto and would have never spoken to any of my customers the way we were spoken to. Needless to say we were highly embarrassed that our friend visiting with us had to experience this kind of very negative behaviour from the owner of this establishment. I will never return and will tell all of my friends and business associates to never go there either. This has got to be the most disappointing experience I have ever had in a restaurant to date. So long...
Read moreI wanted to review this place for both other clients, and separately for the owners.
For anyone considering going I'd say Go! Good food and you'll enjoy your meal. We were there on a Tuesday, which has a meal for two option. For $55 you got a nice size serving of chips with two salsa options and guac. It was a pile of chips. Next you each got two tacos each and a choice of beans and rice, or salad and corn. Lastly you got a bowl of ice cream to share. It was all tasty and we enjoyed ourselves.
But my feedback to the owners is a bit different. First, do something about the noise level. You were trying to play some music but it was impossible to hear over the nose from the diners. Surely something at the ceiling level could really help.
Next buy some pictures and cover all those ridiculous half filled electrical outlets that are 7 feet high. I don't know what the idea was here but they aren't doing anything for your vibe.
Tacos... You let people have a choice of tacos but why does it have to be two of the same? Ut two each but you each get two the same. No ability to try two different ones. It seemed unnecessarily restrictive and not really very customer focused.
And sharing. We had a meal to be shared. Ice cream - one bowl with two spoons was fine. So why hand out one piece of corn? Cut it in two!
We enjoyed our dinner, but some tweaks could still make it a...
Read moreWe went to Cerdo today (Saturday) for lunch and although the food was delicious, we were very disappointed with the service we received, especially from the manager. Our server really wanted to help, but his manager definitely had no intention of helping! There were 7 of us, 3 of which were kids, and we asked if we could add an extra table to accommodate us and-or move the tables to the shade and and it was a big no-no! The manager told me there were a tequila restaurant and he had no intention of helping our family eat at his restaurant. Looking around, more than half the tables had at least one kid with them... But hey, he told us that the tables were the way they were and he could had a chair and we could all sqeeze, in the sun, on those 2 small tables. If you do not want to serve family, fine, but just say it, make an age restriction or something. Anyhow, we will not be going back, and will be going to another restaurant where they value their customer, and not just their pockets! If you have kids with you, DO NOT GO THERE, as you will not be valued...
