The Mash | St. Albert — Restaurant in St. Albert

We used to love this place and recommended it to everyone. I don’t know what happened but it seems like it took such a bad turn.

We went on a Thursday night and it was not very busy. We waited 1hr and 15 mins for the pizza and no one came to update us or let us know there would be a delay.

The food comes and we are starving and ready to eat. We sprinkle Parmesan on the pizza and go to town. But wait. Why is my pizza blue? MOLD. The parm was full of mold. The pizza (the one that took an hour) is now FULL OF MOLD.

I had to wait a solid 15 to get the server’s attention despite throwing out a couple “excuse me-s” but there was a group of people at the bar she seemed to know and so I don’t think she noticed us. I figured I’d just wait until she came to check on us to see if the food came out okay but that never happened so I had to keep trying to get her attention.

So anyway, we left after eating half a slice each before we noticed the mold and that was enough to make us both sick.

There used to be a guy named Ben there and we haven’t seen him lately. Ben if you’re reading this please come back and save this place we miss playing board games and eating dill...

I called the Mash in St. Albert to make a reservation for 7:30 for date night to enjoy some pizza and watch the game. We were very excited to finally try the Mash. I was told over the phone “ you won’t need a reservation we’re open until 9pm”.

We arrived at 7:30 , The host at the counter was less then inviting, didn’t offer to seat us. I had to ask if we could be seated. He said we could sit but would need to be out by 8:15 as the staff is all trying to get out of here early.

I could understand if the restaurant was empty. There were 6 other tables dining at the time. I’m sure they felt rushed as all the chairs had been flipped up around them.

I was forced to take my business else where and a tad embarrassed in front of my date.

Maybe in instances of possibly closing early an establishment would tell the customer that over the phone. This would have saved me the Uber there and an Uber right after to another local restaurant that happily accepted my business and support.

I was really looking forward to trying the Dill pickle pizza. The whole situation rubbed me the wrong way and I...

The pizzas were really good but the service was sub par at best. The place is empty yet the server doesn't bother to clean the tables (he pushes all the crumbs onto the floor) nor check on us. Crumbs on every table (except the one where he swiped it onto the floor) and floor as well as garbage on a chair but no cleaning. Instead, the server paced up and down the bar, crossed his arms and leaned on the bar or went to the back to chat with the cook.

There are flies and such flying around as you see all the dead ones along the window sill (all of the restaurant's window sills) that obviously have been there for ages. Wasn't a great experience to swat flies while eating.

Bathroom was dirty with full garbage cans so garbage is on the floor. With the amount of time he had on his hands, the whole place should be sparkling.

Took the whole meal for him to come back to refill our water. I can say that eating outside would have been cleaner than dining inside the place.

Would we come back? Sure... For takeout pizza but not dine in. Food was 4/5 but everything else? 1/5 and that was...
