We ordered the 5 course dinner meal with extra sweet and sour chicken ball's. Our delivery came at a decent time she said 45 to an hour it came 50 mins later. Before we could check the order the delivery guy was gone. Our sweet and sour chicken ball's were missing. Okay fine i call and the resturant and the girl who took my order said hold on let me get the manager after i explained what happened. The manager picked the phone up by saying "WHAT DO YOU WANT". I explained to her what happened and she just kept saying i can bring the chicken to you in 2 hours or i give you credit. Well i told her we only order chinese once a year or twice so credit wouldn't work and 2hours seemed insane. I told her the delivery guy just left if she could call him he could give us our money back for them. Nope she yelled loud in the phone and hung up on me. I called back told her i did not appreciate being hung up and just wanted my money back or deliver the chicken ball's in a more responable time. She said she was too busy and hung up again. Well after we ate the mediocre food. Not much flavour to it and porition for dinner of 5 was not well thought out. I drove over to the resturant about an hpur after the food was delivered. The manager was at the cash mind you when i walked in they had one table that was finishing up and the restaurant was dead and the kicthen was quiet for her to keep telling me she was busy. I brought my recipet up to the counter told her i was there to get my money back for the chicken balls. She said oh now you come because you want money. All i said was well I want my money back and be done. All in all HORRID customer services. The older lady who owns the place amd is the manager I dealt with needs to get a gripe all i wanted was either our money back or the food. She did not want to help in anyway and did not care. The food was meh. I suggest save your time and...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Cosy Chinese Restaurant and Tavern, and let me tell you, it was an experience worth sharing! As I stepped inside, I was instantly greeted with a warm welcome, setting the tone for a delightful meal.
To start, the lunch special included a delicious soup that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The flavors were well-balanced and tantalizing, leaving me excited for what was to come. As I perused the menu, I decided to try something different and opted for the sweet and sour chicken balls with fried rice, even though it's not typically my go-to choice.
Now, let's talk about the overall experience. When it comes to price, value, ambience, and service, I have to give Cosy Chinese Restaurant and Tavern a perfect score of 5/5. The prices were reasonable, providing excellent value for the money spent. The cozy atmosphere added to the overall charm of the place, making me feel right at home. And the service was top-notch, with attentive staff ensuring that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.
However, when it comes to the lunch special and other menu choices, I have to be honest and give them a 2/5.
While the lunch special was decent, I couldn't help but feel that the options were somewhat limited. When comparing Cosy Chinese Restaurant and Tavern to other local Chinese establishments in St. Catharines, there are better options available that offer a wider variety of dishes and higher quality taste for both lunch and dinner specials, all at an almost equal price point.
But don't let that deter you from trying out Cosy Chinese Restaurant and Tavern. If you're in the mood for friendly service, a cozy ambience, and a tasty soup, it's definitely worth a visit. Just be aware that there might be other places nearby that provide more diverse and flavorful menu options for your lunch and...
Read moreWe ordered for New Years Eve and to my surprise they actually called me to tell me that my order was an hour early from what my pick up time was. This put a bit of a damper on my night as I had to rush to get ready and grab the food so it wouldn't just sit there cold. Called my parents and told them I'd be there earlier than expected.
We ordered the dinner for 5 and it was barely enough for 4 people. Portion sizes were tiny. The quality of food was even worse. We have been ordering from here for over 30 years and the quality just isn't there anymore. The beef with green pepper, literally had no beef. It was all green peppers. Everything tasted so bland. Zero flavor. Even the sweet and sour sauce was watered down. Any item that had meat in it ...basically didn't. The chicken fried rice was hard and barely edible. I should have known better when they called and said the order was ready that early ...they weren't busy cause no body wants to eat their food anymore. We spent over $80 and it was super disappointing to say the least. I get that prices have gone up, but they cheaped out way too much for this meal to even be worth $30. I gave 2 stars only because the girls working that night were super kind. The one girl didn't have to call me to tell me it was ready, but she did. When we called to complain they just said it's new years eve. I get that, but it is no excuse for undercutting the quality that much. This also isn't our first bad experience here in the last year. It's now a trend and unfortunately we won't be ordering from here again.
Thanks for the memories this place used to...
