Izumi Sushi (111 Fourth Avenue) — Restaurant in St. Catharines

Placed a pick up order, it was ready when it said it was supposed to be and I was greeted with a smile upon arrival. However, they wouldn’t let me eat it there since I ordered it for pick up which I thought was strange. I ordered a few maki rolls. The mango in the mango cheese roll wasn’t ripe at all. It was hard and didn’t have any mango taste. I didn’t even eat it. Lastly, the spicy mayo sauce isn’t good. It’s like a bright orange chipotle sauce or something. The food is pretty, but the taste wasn’t there. Wouldn’t go back.

Edit after owner reply: I was being kind with this review. Nowhere on your website or during ordering was there mention of your “dining in restaurant policy.” Instead of replying in a condescending and dismissive way, you could think about an improvement to inform your customers since your policy is unusual. Therefore, my personal opinion is useful information for others who might find themselves in the same situation as me since you failed to provide the details.

In regard to the mango roll… nowhere did I say I enjoyed “mushy, overripe fruit.” There’s a difference between perfectly ripe mango and the hard, white, inedible fruit you served in a sushi roll but then drowned in mango sauce as to disguise your mistake.

I’m glad so many of your customers like your unique spicy mayo. Like you said, taste is subjective, which is why people write reviews.

Izumi Sushi is an amazing restaurant that serves some of the best sushi I have ever tasted! While the atmosphere is decent, I must say that it's more of a take-out business, so don't expect a fancy ambiance. However, what really sets this place apart is the quality of the food and the friendly service.

The sushi here is absolutely amazing - it's fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. The menu has a great variety of options to choose from, whether you're in the mood for classic rolls or more creative combinations. I especially loved the Rainbow Roll and the Izumi Roll - they were both delicious and beautifully presented.

What's really great about this place is the friendly service. The staff is always welcoming and accommodating, and they go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. They're happy to offer recommendations and answer any questions you may have.

Delicious food, worth the price. Everything tasted fresh, my wife and i loved all the dinner ware. We got the dragon roll, sweet chilli karaage chicken (highly recommended), a la carte bass sushi, and a miso soup. Dragon roll was delicious, good size with large piece of tempura inside, and not an overload of avocado.Sweet chilli sauce is home made, actually has some spice, not the generic sweet chili sauce you’d buy in stores or at some fast food place, and comes with a small delicious salad on the side. Bass sushi tasted clean and fresh, miso soup was delicious and they threw in an extra one for my wife, and offered refills part way through our meal.
