Manhattan Bar & Grill — Restaurant in St. Catharines

I’d been told that it was a good place to go. I stopped in for lunch around 11:50 am. Walked in, no one approached me so I chose a table. After a couple of minutes, noticed some menus sitting on a window ledge so I went to get one. From behind me, this voice bellowed, “ take a seat we’ll bring you a menu”. Went back to my table. I was approached by a tall, loud woman who informed me that it would be confusing for her and the other server if I had obtained my own menu because I “might sit there for a half hour” with them both thinking the other was taking care of “the only customer” in the restaurant. I asked for a water, and looked at the menu. The server brought the water. I spent 15 minutes listening to Gargantua tell the other person behind the bar why she had more responsibilities than “secondary” did. However she did not return to my table, even though my menu was closed for over 10 minutes. She went into another room, where patrons whom arrived after I did…and I didn’t see her again. After waiting for another 5-10 minutes, I picked up my purse, told the other server…..”tell her ‘thanks anyway’ “ and I walked out. First, you don’t bellow at customers, and if you have a policy, follow through. I will never set foot in there again. Having read the responses, by management, to other non favourable reviews I’m sure there will be a reason I was at fault. Lol.

Your response is as was expected….how dare I enter an establishment that has its doors wide open, patrons at the bar already consuming beverages at 11:50.

Also interesting, your fixation on the description of gargantua instead of the expression of lack of...

It was my first experience dining out in over a year. We took a couple of minutes to order our food. We got our drinks, our group got pops. The pop was flat, we informed the server she said that she could get cans but didn't have any diet. We declined, she brought one anyways which was a nice gesture.

Our food took longer than what would seem appropriate. The restaurant/patio was not that busy with many tables maybe 5 . Although takeout could have been busy. The food was good, the gravy was luke warm to cold. I ordered the veggie quessdila. It was 12.99 plus $5 to add chicken. I feel in a pub style restaurant 17.99 is a little outrageous price for the product.

I was looking for a good time with my group of friends which is what we had. The food was great, hot and fresh. The service was good and friendly. I was not thrilled with my overall experience. This place is a local favourite so I am going to give it another try. Hopefully,...

Don't know why I keep giving this place a chance, I wont ever be going back. Terrible food and very poor service!! I am sure the only people giving them a good review must be personal friends. I ordered the clubhouse, the toast was so dry it cut the top of my mouth, it was like eating a stale crouton. The ham and turkey on it was of the poorest quality cold cuts, and if you like raw bacon and green tomatoes you are in luck, also the french fries were still raw. The wait staff was more interested standing around the bar talking amongst themselves, rather then taking care of their patrons. Needless to say I did not eat my dinner, there was no quality check - and when the waitress did take my FULL plate away she never inquired if there was anything wrong with my meal, Don't know why they think they should be in the food business. AVOID this place...
