Zesty Dessert Café — Restaurant in St. Thomas

The first time I went I ordered a simple berry waffle and was given some deluxe berry waffle thing. It was clearly not what I ordered, but mistakes happen. I was charged and paid the higher price without complaint as it good. I think what I ordered was $6.99 and the item I received and paid for was $18.99? So a huge price difference. I thought to visit this place a second time. I bought drinks this time and the menu said it was $5.95. The staff rang it in a $7.95. This time I spoke up and explained that I wanted the smaller $5.95 one (no toppings). They argued with me and said it rang up with tax. Even with tax, that is not what it totals. I I stated this. They then shrugged and said that's what it rang up as. I showed them the menu indicating the advertised price. Throughout the transaction I was polite but they were very rude. They behaved very defensively even though they or their system made an error. I also don't appreciate being lied to. As displayed on the receipt, the taxes are calculated afterwards... They rudely sighed and "gave" me the friend discount. Saying, "here, is that better?" I wasn't asking for a discount. It's only a couple of dollars. My issue was the dishonesty. This being my second visit and second time I have been overcharged. I will not be returning and will be sure to warn others to check...

I wish I didn't feel moved to leave a poor review when there are so many good ones, but I do. The posted open hours are very inconsistent - the website hours, the hours available on Google, and the hours posted in the window are all inconsistent with one another. All of them say they should be open right now, but they are not open, and not answering their phone.

When I came with two family members in the summer, our experience was subpar as well. The kitchen was slow. My sister's drink was incorrectly made with real milk instead of lactose free milk, as she clearly requested. The highlight was easily the Turkish coffee. My waffle was also delicious, and as long as you know to expect a very heavy dessert, you will enjoy it.

Please post correct hours across online platforms and in your store front. I know emergencies happen and it isn't always possible, but if it is possible please let the public know if you need to be closed unexpectedly, as I was really hoping to enjoy a Turkish coffee with a friend who hasn't experienced...
