I ordered some dishes online today. When I arrived there around 6:30 pm, there were more than 20 people waiting inside the restaurant. Well, it is Mother's Day so there were so many orders by each customer. We all were doing social distancing, sort of, except in the queue for making payments. I heard one customer asking the cashier lady how long she needs to wait; she said if it takes too long, she wants to cancel the order. She was told it would take about 20 minutes. I also asked the lady and was told that it would take about 20 minutes also. Later, I found out that the other customer ordered much earlier than me online. Yes, both of us were told that our orders would take about 20 minutes.
About 40 minutes later, the other customer got upset and started complaining to the cashier. The cashier said she takes only payments and would not know how long it would take exactly as it is up to chefs. Another man started complaining too and then left. During my almost 2-hours waits, there were at least 5 complaints who have also waited more than one hour already inside the restaurant.
I sympathize with the cashier since it is not easy to estimate any orders but I think the restaurant management should do a better job and be more upfront with customers on time estimates. My suggestion is that if the management has told one customer whose order is third in the queue that it may take about 15 minutes, they should properly communicate to another customer whose order is sixth in the queue that it may take about 30 minutes assuming every order takes about 5 minutes to complete. The management may want to be on the high-side if the order sizes are bigger than usual (e.g. add extra 5 minutes for those large orders).
Most customers don't want to wait one hour when they were told to wait only 15 minutes. There are some restaurants including Pizza Hut and MacDonald's which have TV screens which show order numbers and estimated waiting times. If the management does not want to invest in such automated TV screens, they should come up with a solution to better estimate the time. This is the job of the management to be able to properly estimate. If they don't, just do time study daily on how many chefs can cook how many orders in how many minutes. Over time, you would be better with the estimates. Anyway, after two hours wait, I got my food and it tastes good and I am still...
Read moreMy husband and I had a craving for some Chinese Food on a Sunday evening. We made an order for delivery and of course, we ordered A LOT since we enjoy leftover Chinese food as we don't have it as often since moving out of the Vancouver area. We ordered: Vegetable Spring Rolls Spicy Wonton with Chilli oil Cantonese Lemon Chicken Ginger Beef (Hot & Sweet) Sliced Chicken & Brocoli Chow Mein Rice Noodles with Beef in Black Bean sauce
For the most part, all the dishes were pretty standard - none of the dishes has stood out from being better than some chinese restaurants that we have been too or have ordered from. However, there were a couple of dishes that I probably would never order again from this place and it was the Spicy Wonton w/chilli oil - they had an abundance of ginger and garlic with the wontons which overpowered the taste of the wontons and honestly, it wasn't even close to being spicy, just really oily and no chilli. I wasn't too impressed with this dish. The lemon chicken was really dry regardless of being drenched in sauce and since they didn't put the sauce on the side, the breading of the chicken was soaked and didn't taste very good. And last but not least, the Ginger Beef (hot & sour) - just a big thumbs down for me with this dish. The beef was a bit stiff for me and the flavor just didn't satisfy the taste buds. The two dishes that I did enjoy was the Rice Noodles w/beef in black bean sauce and the Rice Noodles with Beef in Black Bean sauce - I definitely went back for seconds on those. Not sure if dining in will make a huge difference, since we don't live very far from this place, but we may consider dining in if they have dim sum during the weekends.
All in all, it wasn't a terrible choice, but we did find this place quite overpriced for the...
Read moreReally poor service. The servers had a very careless attitude. It took forever for them to come around and check up on us from time to time, so we ended up ordering a jug of water due to a lack of attention. When they finally passed by and we asked to get our food packed up, one waitress actually just looked at the food and walked away. Two dishes came out way after the others. When it came time to pay, I did not tip as tipping is a CUSTOMER'S CHOICE, not a right, and you tip when you are pleased with someone who goes above the required service. The lady at the register, after paying, began by telling me "your bill does not include tip". After telling her if there is a sign that states this as a RULE in this restaurant, she chastised me and discriminated against me by saying "In Canada, you tip 10%". and when seeing that I did not budge, she rolled her eyes and began to tell me more things. Out of fear of having an even worse experience and that spreading to my table, I ended up tipping in cash at the table for very POOR service. Customers should not be bullied into tipping, especially for a service where most of the servers looked like they did not want to be there. If you care so much about your servers, pay them more so you do not bully your customers into essentially covering what you don't want to put forth. I spent $121.38 to be mistreated. This was order #182856. I am extremely disappointed and will let my friends and family know of this experience. Hopefully you can educate your employees on communication and customer...
