I recently visited CipherX in Delta and, unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. We arrived at opening time with a reservation for 1 hour of VR and 30 minutes of X-Grid. However, things quickly went downhill.
When we arrived, the VR setup was not ready. We waited for 30 minutes while the staff tried to troubleshoot the issue, making multiple phone calls to tech support. During this time, no one communicated with us or provided any updates. Worse still, when the headsets were finally handed over, they hadn’t been cleaned. Other VR venues I’ve visited consistently clean their equipment with disinfecting wipes, so this lack of basic hygiene was concerning.
There was no apology for the delay, no offer of complimentary drinks, no extension of our VR session, and no compensation of any kind. We did eventually get our full hour of VR but were immediately asked to move to X-Grid, even though our original reservation included a 30-minute break. When we requested this break, the staff appeared visibly annoyed and reluctantly gave us only 15 minutes. During this time, the owner came to the reception and, in front of us, scolded the staff, snapping, “They should be inside.” This was uncomfortable and made us feel entirely unwelcome.
The VR itself was a major letdown. Before booking, I specifically called to ensure they had age-appropriate games and was told there were “hundreds of games” to choose from. In reality, there were only four games available. I only discovered this after we left, and when I called to confirm, a staff member admitted there were just “4-5 games.”
Overall, this experience was incredibly disappointing. The misrepresentation of services, lack of communication, poor customer service, and unclean equipment make this place a no-go. Save yourself the frustration and avoid CipherX in Delta...
Read moreCipherX DELTA has an AMAZING assortment of indoor entertainment activities that will stimulate both your physical and mental prowess as well as give you a little cardio along the way. They offer VR 👓, X-Grid 👟, escape rooms 🎭, and golf simulator ⛳️
Love or hate a good workout, X-Grid will make you sweat. STAY on the green grids 🟩, AVOID the red ones 🟥, and COLLECT as much blues as you can as a team 🟦. It's such a simple yet challenging activity and it literally will keep you on your toes! X-Grid comes in 30min ($30) & 60min ($40) games
VR. In CipherX DELTA, we got to play "Dead End" which was a wireless, free roaming VR-interactive experience that involved picking up tons of different weapons to shoot endless waves of slow BUT smart zombies. You HAVE TO try it to believe it. FAST response times, basically no lag or delay interactions, completely immersive VR experience that feels "real" to your senses. HIGHLY recommend you book the Free Roam VR 1 Hour ($40). They also have the 30min for $30 for a smaller sample 🧟♂️🧟♀️🔫
As for Escape Rooms and golf simulator, I decided to try them next time and will update my review accordingly.
Overall, I definitely recommend coming here for a fun date, as a family, with friends, or even with another person to enjoy any one of these interactive...
Read moreCipher x has always been one of our top places. We were excited to see a new one open up in Surrey. We did 2 escape rooms, pirate and jumanji. The decor and puzzles were great! We’ve always enjoyed that about cipher x. Pirate was really fun, although we had a small mechanical system error in our room. Good thing the staff came, verified our answer, tried to crack it herself, and confirmed it was the system so she bypassed it for us. We didn’t lose too much time waiting for that to crack.
For those who have been to the Coquitlam one before and have done Jumanji… I can say you should skip this ones. Yeah sure some of the puzzles were different, and the answers were different, but overall the look, majority of the steps, all the same. We did ask before going in if it’s a different room, and the staff said the owners chatted so there might be some similarities but the puzzles are different. We still go out in record time because it was really similar. Good thing about the Surrey one is the light on the board doesn’t constantly flash! The one in Coquitlam we had to cover it with our jacket because it was giving us a headache. Hopefully wizarding world...
