Moved to a new location and this bar is right beside us and we were excited to make it our new home bar! Had a reso for a party of 8 on Saturday. We were given a table that could sit maybe 4. When I asked if we could have a bigger table to fit all of our guests, I was looked at weirdly and told that the pub was busy.
That wasn't really our concern, we wanted to be able to fit everybody. We were just gestured at a bigger table so we took it.
I specifically asked for the fire table when we booked our reso, and we weren't told until well after that the fire tables didn't work which was pretty disappointing. We then waited over an hour for our waitress to come take our drinks orders. We were understanding that they were busy, but three groups of the same amount of people showed after us and left after eating before we even got our food. The other waitresses were dressed in all black and looked nice.ours was in a mini skirt and a floral bra type top with hickies all over her neck.
It took almost 3hours to get ourfood and eat, the only reason this has 2 stars is because ourfood was great and the bills were cheap. Our friends asked for salad with their sandwiches and were brought fries instead. When they asked for their salad via the waitress that brought them she gave us a rude look and later brought over ONE salad out of 2 that were ordered. Later, 2 more salads were brought over. They attempted to charge my friends for all of the salad.
We intended to stay longer, but decided to go to another bar. Our waitress brought our bills, left to grab the machine and didn't return for another 30minutes. If we weren't good people, we absolutely would have walked away from the pub. In fact, it took so long one member from our group ordered another drink and forgot about it before leaving. When we asked another waitress how to pay sooner as we booked an uber, she rolled her eyes and told us that the other waitress was too busy. In all my years of working in customer service, I've never heard that before. Someone grab a machine and make sure your customers pay for their food.
Very disappointing experience and we unfortunately will not...
Read moreNot a friendly place. Went there with a group but the waitress had an attitude from the start. Brought our drinks and asked us to pay out. We asked for food menus, and after 15 minutes had to get our own menus. She never came back so we could order food or get more drinks. And after 20 minutes when I asked her if she was still our waitress, she referred us to the bar.
It was a strange experience and very rude attitude from the wait staff. We were waiting for the rest of our party, but decided to leave anyway because of the horrible service and what seemed like a deliberate attitude unworthy of a pub.
We have been there several times before with a large group, but I will contact the manager tomorrow to explain what happened and will make sure never to go there again... 😁
UPDATE This is in response to the "Response from the owner"... they're full of BS and that is NOT how it happened. Of course I expect "The Owner" (or whoever wrote the response) to stand behind their staff, no matter how rude the waitress was. What happened was when we first got there, the waitress had a chip on her shoulder right from the start. The previous incident that the "Owner" is referring to happened months ago and it involved an altercation with a single lady in our group with the same waitress. After what happened months ago, that girl is no longer with our group, and as far as I know, everyone payed their bills at that time since I was one of the last ones who closed my tab before we left. So what the "Owner" is saying is nonsense. Worse off, it is amazing that a waitress would hold a grudge against everyone in our group (20+ people) for so many months even though she ONLY dealt with that one individual. Strange place and definitely not "Canadian Polite" like. Perhaps leaving politics, personal problems, and whatever frustrations she brings to the work environment as a waitress, are better left and dealt with at home instead of taking it out on...
Read moreFirst time to this long time neighbourhood pub just on the N.Delta/Surrey Scott Rd. border on 96th Ave.
The patio area that was added is spacious, shaded and dog-friendly: perfect during this warm weather. We didn’t go inside so cannot comment in the interior.
Service from Kathleen was very good and food wasn’t too long of a wait.
We both ordered Fish & Chips (1 pc)- $13.67 each. Well prepared with a light batter, flaky fish, crispy fries and creamy coleslaw. I feel it was a good value meal and very good.
Edit Oct.2/22: Return trip for Fish & Chips and Mexicali Burger. Both delicious, big portions and well priced by today’s standards. Great music playing on the outside patio: AC/DC, Eric Clapton and Pat Travers. Inside was pretty busy already at 4:30pm, with the live act trickling in and by the looks of their age, some great classic rock I’m sure. The burger definitely lives up to Donegal’s reputation as Best Burgers in Surrey.
Edit Oct. 9/10th: Went for the much talked about Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner ($19) for 2 courses on Sat. the 9th, early afternoon. I had the Turkey Barley Soup…hubby had the Caesar Salad starters. Very large portions and delicious….well priced and definitely worth it. Our friend ordered the French Dip ($15.73).
We returned on Sun. the 10th, I had the intention of ordering it again but they had already sold out before 4:30. Hubby got his burger fix (Donegal’s Burger- $17.34 for us both, onion rings- $1.50 add on)….again, they are voted best burgers in Surrey for good reason.
The Breakfast Club is an excellent value at $9, choice of toasts, bacon (3), sausage (2) or ham (2).
Service is always excellent no matter who is there. Today it was Sherri.
Parking in front and...
