Haveli Indian Bistro — Restaurant in Surrey

This is what I had written with 5 stars not long ago but just 5 months back!

“Congratulations to the entire team for brining in such a superb restaurant in a nice neighborhood in the city of Surrey. Every time we visit, it’s always an awesome experience and you haven’t disappointed us. We have done dine in, take out and family event catering, every time you have proved us right by choosing you! From the very door to till we get checked out, it’s a great feeling! Food portions are large, extremely tasty and rightly priced! Service is excellent and all the staff are polite. We would like to mention the name of Harpreet, the waitress who helped us having an awesome dinner. She didn’t look like a beginner though she said she was! Very sweet and polite! We will come again and again will refer your place to all our coworkers, friends and relatives. You’re doing wonderful. Don’t make any changes to all that you are doing. Lastly, about the parking. There is an ample and smooth parking you have and we can have a jet load of people. 10 stars guys! Thank you!”

But yesterday - February 08, 2024, we had ordered items worth $250 and it was absolutely worthless - taste wise, portion wise, price wise! We ended up miserable in the eyes of our guests, who had come for the family function. We were told the owner and the management have been changed and we could figure out why such a drastic fall on every parameter now! Another worst thing is their online order booking! It is so messed up with its both old outfit namely Indian Haveli and new Haveli Bistro appearing in the listings, there is so much confusion while ordering through any of the food carrier services! Items are differently named and the same items are differently priced - it’s highly frustrating! I will never ever not only party-order but also will never ever either visit this place or will never ever recommend to anyone. The food they gave, the price wise was not even worth quarter in terms of dollar value!

Due to all the above, I am downgrading the stars to 1 star, all the way...

So it's nothing personal but I believe I have share this . I ordered chicken fried rice and dry chili chicken to go . Girl at front desk confirm me that chilli chicken will be dry coz I specifically I asked for that . I picked my order came back home open the food and guess what ?? Fried rice were kind a ok but chilli chicken was with gravy I mean a lot ..its like pieces of chicken in tomato sauce no where close the dry chilli chicken. I called them back to inform about messed up food order . Customer service was good so they gave me store credit of similar amount. Part 2 now ... So on 15th of March while coming back from my work I called them to pack some food in lieu of store credit,,first they completely denied that there is no store credit against my name but after talking to manager I believe they took my order . I reached after 35 minutes to pick my food [ Chicken dum biryani ] and came to know that it's not ready due to some issues in kitchen. Restaurant manager came and apologize for the inconvenience and offer some desert with food .. this guy was very polite n humble,, I got my dum biryani and desert with that but when I came home and open my food ..its pathetic..lots of oil in biryani ..n chicken was also not fresh ... I just don't want to call them back coz I don't want they thought that I m doing it just for store credit but I believe this place definitely needs good chefs..food quality is really poor ..needs huge improvement n I really mean that ... I gave 4 stars to customer service but food i mean it's not even 1 star ... I believe the management definitely look into this review...

Only thing that I would appreciate is our server, forgot to get her name. Glasses were not clean (see the picture). Portion size is a joke compared to the price! Lamb was uncooked and we ordered their specialty "Haveli lamb". She took it back and to our surprise, it was still hard to break or chew when she brought it back after 15 mins ! Also, in this small bowl of lamb curry, we got three pieces with bone. So, ultimately, it was uncooked gravy with lamb bones. I am doubtful if this was mentioned as a boneless dish. We also ordered "Haveli special paneer" and "Haveli basket of breads". Paneer dish was more or less Shahi paneer but had no flavour just sweetness. "Basket of breads" was suppose to have six types of bread. And, we got only five types, mentioned it to our server, she went to the kitchen and came back saying no, they served just five but something was repeated. So, total six were served. Seriously! They were cut in pieces/halves so can't confirm if there were six of them but stuffed naan was not served. And, the kitchen staff had the audacity to say it's doesn't matter. I felt bad for the girl that she had to apologize us for the lamb and naan bread. This place doesn't respect and honor people's requests/complaints. Will never go back. We spent more than $150 but were still hungry when we left this place. We also ordered Manchurian (salty/vinegary/extra soy sauce), soy chaap (was good), butter chicken (sweet) and aloo tikki chaat (mediocre). All the dishes had zero effort on presentation...
