On high recommendations from our son who has been frequenting this place, we paid our long outstanding visit in our list to this popular and highly rated restaurant for dinner. Place is modest and modern with good ambiance and has ample free parking space in the nearby big box store mall area and easily accessible as it’s close to highway King George Blvd. We were pleasantly surprised, as they had some weekend specials - 20% discount on all their dosas (except rawa aka semolina aka wheat millets) and some combos going for better prices. As per in-house recommendation, I opted for goat biriyani ($16) and my spouse chose a combo - Mysore Masala dosa + one idli + one vada + one gulab jamoon ($15). The portion of biriyani was large and with lot of meat unlike other places. Meat part was good and the rice part was okay. A good biriyani has to be flavourful but not too greasy or ‘gravyish’ and this biriyani was bit below those marks - no authentic flavours and was greasy and gravy, as if it’s a gravy rice. This view is purely as per my perception and as per my tastebuds and not to bring down the quality as it is, as I was expecting a pure Tamil Nadu style biriyani. Side raita was good. The combo items ordered by my wife were a tad below her expectations - sides - sambar wasn’t good and tasted a tad old, coconut chutney was just ok, red chutney was also just ok. Dosa batter was bit stale and potato masala was too mashed up. Vada passed the test but idly was a let down. Though it was white and soft, it was crumbling and watery, as if it was soaked in water and heated up in a microwave. Being a level 7 Google food reviewer I owe my truthfulness in analyzing deeper and so are my honest observations and well-meant as a positive feedback for...

After having a wonderful experience at Masala Hut’s Langley branch last week, we decided to visit their Surrey location today, and we were not disappointed!
From the moment we stepped in, the service was warm and welcoming. Komalpreet, our waitress, was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making our friend’s birthday celebration even more special. Her hospitality and attentiveness truly enhanced our dining experience.
We tried their Curry-Paratha combos, Dosas, and Kothu Parotta, and each dish was bursting with authentic South Indian flavors—just like dining at a restaurant in Chennai! The taste, freshness, and quality of the food were outstanding, leaving us fully satisfied.
When dining out, we look for five key things: great taste, excellent service, reasonable pricing, good portion sizes, and a pleasant ambience. Masala Hut checks every single box effortlessly.
While there is a slight taste variation between the Langley and Surrey locations, both offer top-notch South Indian cuisine, making it a tough choice for our next visit. The real challenge? Deciding which location to bring our friends to next time! 😉
A big shoutout to Komalpreet for her amazing service! Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic South Indian...
Read moreI absolutely love Dosa and this are the best we’ve ever had! Plus, prices are super reasonable. I loved everything about this place. We went here for dinner on October 14th 2024, Thanksgiving Day. I had Paneer Cheese Dosa and loved it. My family had the regular Masala Dosa and Spicy Masala Dosa and they liked theirs too. I wanted to try something else but ran out of belly space :) Super friendly and helpful staff as well. When you go in, there's a surprisingly modern setup with incredibly friendly service staff waiting to take your order. The food was delicious. Absolutely worth a stop by if you're in the area. Check them out, you'll be a regular in no time! Every bite is packed with quality and flavor. Food is highly recommended, the best Dosa in town. Overall nice experience. We ordered regular Gulab Jamun and Rabdi Gulab Jamun in dessert, but Rabdi Gulab Jamun was not as expected. Rabdi was too diluted and looked like Jamun in tea. I'm not going to give 4 star just coz of Rabdi, since everything else was beyond...
