Drove 40 mins out to support a vegan small business. The experience unfortunately was mediocre, and I may not drive specially to go there again.
The good:
The lady behind the counter was very friendly and we had a few moments of smiles and laughter. A big thumbs up!
Vegan options!!! Plenty of them. Had their lemon loaf and it was hands down the best I've had so far. LOVED IT!
The not so good:
The business name has "Coffee" in it, and if a cafe can't get coffee right, that's a bit disappointing! We got a dark and a Brazilian coffee, but both were super watery. Like how the cuppa would turn out with yesterday's already brewed coffee, at home; or when you put too much water and too little coffee. Tim Hortons' Dark Roast seemed like a mile ahead of the ones we had here, and I hate Tim Hortons' coffee.
Leaving it at 3 stars for now, and will update if I get a chance to visit this place again. Hoping they will work on improving their...
Read moreMy vegan peeps THIS IS YOUR PLACE! Let's be honest, great tasting vegan food/baked goods are not always easy to come by. I have tried several goodies from Spent Grounds and each was just delish! In fact I bought a package of mixed cookies and danish in addition to a single serving of carrot cake for my husband's birthday. They were so yummy that my husband and I ate the whole tray the same day, before his birthday party so I had to go back and buy it again, in addition to the brownie I will talk about next. I hesitate to tell you HOW ABSOLUTELY PHENOMINAL THE SALTED CARAMEL BROWNIE ISSSS because I risk it being sold out when I go in to get it myself (which has turned out to be more frequent than I intended) but I must spread the word it is honestly even BETTER than the non vegan version. IT IS THAT GOOD! Try it with the vegan vanilla ice cream! Oh and the vegan nacho cheese they sell there also a GOODIE!! Thanks for making vegan...
Read moreThis is a magical place. The sort of place you randomly find tucked away in an obscure location and know only two things can happen to it -- it can go bankrupt or it can get wildly popular and the quality can drop.
The coffee is amazing. And it's cheap. It's passion and love in a cup. It's coffee as an art form; everything weighed out and made to an exacting perfection. The roasts are beautiful; the beans marvelously fresh. You will probably have the best cup of coffee you have ever had here.
So, make this place crazy popular. Allow the wonderful lady who runs it to make it a roaring success and sell out to a big multinational. Let her become a relaxed multimillionaire -- because for bringing something this wonderful into the world -- that's what she deserves. Enjoy the astoundingly good coffee while you can and hope that it brings up the standards for the industry.
10/10. D*ed...
