Kwan's Cantonese Restaurant — Restaurant in Sussex

Mediocre food. Horrible service. Picked up my friend's take-out order there once and decided I'd give it a try. Big mistake. I ate in with a couple friends and should have walked out when the waitress spent at least 15 minutes talking to who her friends instead of bringing us menus. When serving us she was less than friendly and acted as if we were only there to bother her. The television was also a problem. They were playing some made for TV movie about a man who committed a bunch of sex crimes then killed himself in prison. Of course the gory death scene was playing while my friends and I ate. We were quite vocal with our disgust at this poor choice in TV channel, but the waitress made no attempt to change it. The food was mediocre to say the least. It wasn't horrible, but it definitely wasn't worth what we paid for it. I also did not like how their menu was set up. At the Chinese restaurant I usually eat at in Fredericton, an order of Almond Chicken Soo Guy comes with a side of fried rice. For the same price at Kwan's you only get the chicken. What kind of meal is a slab of deep fried chicken? I will never be returning to Kwan's and would not recommend...

Weve been to Kwans a few times before and if our experience was ok it was also bad. Food was meh and service was bad. BUT today was all together a 180° walk in to a high then this cutie little girl pops up from behind the counter with a big smile. Were handed pur menus and we sit, the little girl brings us a booster seat for our 4year old. More then enough options so we order and before we know it our fried wong tongs hot and fresh arrive, was so good hubby ordered a second serving of those. Shortly after our food arrives, the portions were perfect. It was HOT and so fresh and tasty. Definitely was a awesome experience we had We will be back again! Good food at a good price. Kwans's is usually busy and seems especially so with the onset on Covid. You have to call in your order, arrange a pickup time, and they will call you at that time so you can enter the take out only restaurant. The food is quite good with things like the chicken balls being mostly chicken, which seems rare these days. Everything was hot and tasted fresh and flavourful. The portions are huge. A single order will probably feed two people ands should fill the emptiest gut. The service was friendly as well. The only reason why I only gave it 4 stars is that I wish there was more vegetable options. Otherwise it is our go to...
