The place is very easy to find and plenty of parking outside! Great location especially on a nice sunny day. The owners (husband and wife) are sweet and welcoming. Now, if it came to businesses comparison or appropriate hospitality, I’d rate a 3. Usually at a sit in, you get a drink order or water, unfortunately that was missed till we asked for it half-way into our meal. We had questions about the menu and the husband was able to answer only not to pass it on to his wife which caused a lot of confusion on our end. We ordered the fattoush but asked for just a small size to share and he said they can do that but when we were served, it was the large size split. Taste wise, fattoush 10/10, just like the middle east, fresh and full of flavours. For the main meal, we rate it 5/10. My friend ordered the ultimate veg bowl only to be served something different but we thought that was the bowl. She asked the owner if he can make a smaller portion since he said it was large or if it comes in that, he said yes they can do that. So we expected the same bowl but in a smaller size. It was not that. It was just rice, 4 falafels and some pickles/turnips. The rice is not white as advertised, it’s brown and has lentils. It did not have the salad in the bowl as advertised either. She asked for spicy and it was not but later asked for a sauce, and got siracha, which did the trick. I got the chicken shawerma poutine, which is advertised as chicken shawerma, zaatar fries, gravy and cheese curds (like a regular poutine). I got rice on the bottom?? I have no idea why and it was the same brown and lentil rice. It just felt like they didn’t have enough fries so filled it with some rice to make it look full. I feel what went wrong here is a communication error. When we went to pay, we were charged for the poutine shawerma (16.95$), loaded bowl ($20), and fattoush (10$).. definitely not worth the prices especially for that loaded bowl being a smaller size and charged the same (missing salad) and random rice in my poutine! I should mention when we made them aware of the mistake, they took off the fattoush price. So in total we paid around $42. Would I come back? Probably not. Is it that bad? Not really but not worth a 50 minute drive for that. *edited my review after I was attacked by the owner for apparently not asking the right questions?* If a picture and description say something, why should I ask?

The Falafel Spot is one of our favourite restaurants! Any time we are in Sussex, we are sure to stop by. The restaurant is small but SO inviting. The owners are very friendly and the food is top notch!! We have tried a lot shawarma and a lot of falafel (including in London, UK and California) and this is by far our favourite. We've also had the baklava here before and it also our favourite. Seriously a must try while in Sussex or surrounding communities!

Great location for middle eastern cushion. Very friendly staff. You can definitely get more information about food from them very knowledgeable. Looks like family run local business. Easy street parking. Dining take away available. Washrooms and TV on the location. I tried loaded fries and it was really good. If you like spicy ask them. They will do real justification. Dessert and drinks also available.

My boyfriend and I made a road trip to Sussex. We noticed “The Falafel Spot” and pulled up with no trouble parking.

Upon entering, the fresh ingredients pulled me into sensory satisfaction. Within seconds a huge smile and warm greeting from the owner welcomed us in.

He asked us if we were familiar with the menu items or if we had any questions he could help us with. As we knew our way around the items on the menu it took us no time to decide. He made a recommendation that one of us try the spicy version of the falafel wrap. We ordered one spicy, one regular and a fries to share.

We sat cozy and while we waited a short time for our food. We could see his talented wife preparing our food in their clean kitchen. It’s obvious they love their restaurant by the cleanliness and passion as they worked together. It felt like we were visiting friends.

The food arrived incredibly fresh and hot. Instantaneously we could taste family traditions that you can’t get unless you are raised in this type of house hold. The kind of food that makes you wish your parents had cooked for you growing up.

The only disappointment was how full I was and couldn’t eat two meals back to back. I settled with taking home dessert! We both took their baklava which upon first sight I knew this would be the best I would ever have. My instincts were most certainly correct!

Im excited to go back to Sussex and have my second meal. I left full happy and snuggling into my darlings sweater.

These two have created something wonderful with their restaurant I wish them many years of success.

Thank you

We see...

My first visit to Sussex. I was accompanied by a young visitor from Japan. We each ordered a wrap for lunch: Chicken Shawarma and the Original Falafel. These were more than a meal! Lots left over for dinner later! The most filling and satisfying such wraps I've ever had. I may have to go to Sussex again - just for the wraps! The atmosphere was fine - rather standard. Comfortable and bright. We did have some slight pause at the front: Which door was for the restaurant? It turned out: both! There was some confusion about part of the order and Sam (if I remember his name correctly) more than made up for the confusion. A great guy and such a...
