⭐ 1 star 📍 Visited: July 19 at 11:40 AM 🧍♂️ Party of 5 (including one autistic child)
We arrived at 11:40 AM and were told it would be a 15–20 minute wait. We weren’t put on a waitlist, and no one communicated honestly. We weren’t seated until 12:30 PM—nearly an hour later. If the wait is going to be that long, just say so upfront. Don’t lie.
Meanwhile, parties of 2 and 4 were seated ahead of us. When we asked to just add a chair to a table (we had a child), we were refused. I even went in partway through the wait to ask again. They claimed they had to seat us at a table for six—completely unreasonable.
😡 Attitude at the host stand: The young women working the front didn’t care at all. No apology, no effort. One brown-haired girl in her late 20s/early 30s kept giving us dirty looks after we questioned their process. The blonde staff also acted like customer service was beneath them. If you don’t want to deal with guests, don’t work in hospitality.
🍽️ Once seated, more issues: We ordered five meals: eggs, waffles, French toast, side potatoes, meats, and poached eggs. The portion sizes were embarrassingly small. You could see more of the plate than the food. The prices? Way too high for what was served.
🥞 French toast & syrup issue: My French toast came with a small metal pourer—about 3 tablespoons of syrup. I asked for more. The server said I’d be charged. I asked for the manager. She came reluctantly and said, “Okay, this time we’ll give it to you—but next time we charge.” She claimed the syrup was “imported from Quebec.” Seriously? Maple syrup is Canadian. Don’t insult our intelligence. She walked off with a smirk and returned with the same tiny portion. Being stingy with syrup at a breakfast place is ridiculous.
🥔 Potato side complaint: One of our meals had only a few small potatoes. I asked for more. The server replied, “That’s how it comes.” I insisted. She returned with a couple larger pieces added to the same plate. No “sorry,” no side dish. Just minimal effort. Not acceptable. Just bring a few extra on a side plate. Make your customers feel heard.
👦 Child with autism left waiting: We ordered potatoes for our autistic child. They didn’t bring it until the end—after we had asked twice. He had to watch us eat with no food. Even if they didn’t know about his condition, it’s basic service: bring all items out together. There’s no excuse for forgetting part of an order.
🚫 Final Thoughts: We will NEVER come back to this particular location again.
This restaurant is: – ❌ Overpriced – ❌ Serving tiny portions – ❌ Dishonest about wait times – ❌ Poor with communication – ❌ Lacking basic customer service
✅ The only positive: The food tasted decent. That’s it.
📢 To management: Get your act together. Hire staff with actual customer service skills. Drop the attitude from the front desk. Retrain the female manager from that day on how to resolve issues—not smirk and walk away.
💵 You charge $25+ per plate—serve portions that reflect the price. And stop being cheap with syrup.
We even left a 15% tip, which you absolutely didn’t deserve.
📞 I expect a manager to reply and contact me about this. Make it right. Fix your service.
I even attached two photos to prove how skimpy of a portion you get served for...
Read moreI attended this location at 3:30pm when they close at 4pm so I was trying to order something quick and easy. I ordered the ahi tuna sandwich because I wanted to compare it to Joey's. The woman I was with ordered 2 Benny's with 2 different styles. For her to make that order it took another 3 min to explain to the waitress, who at one point said, if you want 2 different styles you have to add another Benny. That was weird. But the waitress finally accepted the order of 2 different Benny's. As for me, I asked for fries with my ahi tuna, ketchup and a side of mustard. She ho hmm'd and pondered if they had mustard in the building and said she would get back to me. I asked for a glass of water with no ice before she left to fill the order.
The waitress came back with a short glass of water, stretched out on 1 foot and dropped it about 2 inches above the table making a sound that startled people behind us. She also dropped it on farther part of the table where I had to reach to get it. When the food came out, she had the plates in each hand and hovered it in front of me chin level above the table looking for me to take it off her hands. I looked her in the eye and basically signalled to place it in front of me. She did the same with the woman I was with. She then asked if we wanted pepper in the fries, we said yes and she ground pepper for both of us. I asked her if she can check in on the mustard for me. She then ho hmm'd again and said she would check. She came back with Dijon mustard which was alright but let me know when never asked in the first place.
We both took bites of the fries. They were ice cold. They felt like they were made 6hrs ago. Not sure how a chef or a waitress would present this to us. They offered to make new fries. We accepted them but didn't eat them there because the place was basically closed.
Eggs Benny was great. Ahi tuna tasted great but there was about 2 bites of tuna inside the bun. It had great flavor and looked good
The interior of the restaurant is 5 star. The food I believe is good but I just had bad luck. The waitresses were below par. Our waitress tried to turn up the charm when it was time to pay because they comped one coffee(I had water) and took $3 off for the fries. In the background the waitress behind the bar was talking about other customers to a hostess out loud. Maybe she forgot people were still here?!
I would go again but beware of weak staff who are...
Read moreMe and a friend arrived on time for an early 8am reservation and were seated. The restaurant was about 50% full but it took about 20’mins before a server came to take our orders. We placed our orders and the food came within about 10mins so it was about 8:30 when we could start our meal. I’ve been a loyal customer at OEB for half a decade now and the food has always been good and today was no exception. We’ve loved the franchise since our first experience in Calgary. However, after our meal, we were having our usual post meal conversation when we were asked to leave because another reservation required the table. This was at around 9am. I had ordered a coffee and only had a chance to drink half of it when they asked me to leave. To make matters worse, there were other tables available and a patio that was full of tables and no occupants - but it did seem like they were restricting use of the patio because of staff availability. We would’ve gladly yielded the table for others, but we were not given the option to move - only to leave - not to mentioned that we were somewhat rushed to pay the bill and we had specifically requested to stay a bit to finish our conversation. So, to summarize, we were given 30mins to eat our meal and forced to leave. We left a tip, as is expected and courteous but then we left. We continued our conversation outside only to realize at around 9:15, maybe 10 mins later, they opened up the patio and there was still open seating in the restaurant. I live in the Windermere area and was very excited to learn of an OEB opening nearby, but this experience and the service that was provided makes me believe it’s worth the added 30min commute each way (1hr) to go to the downtown location. The food and kitchen staff are great at what they do so I would give 5 stars to them, but I do not recommend because of the poor service and this experience. Really, it leaves a very bad impression from my end. I kinda regret leaving a tip and this is the first time Ive really felt inclined to spend the extra effort to posting a negative review. Hopefully this location can improve for the future as I’d love for OEB to be successful in the Windermere/Riverbend area where I’ve live...
