We tooks a day trip to Collingwood from Midland on Saturday August 3rd and purposely decided to go to Thornbury to introduce our friend to your restaurant since we had eaten there twice in the past and loved the food, the atmosphere and the service. This time , the overall the experience was ok. we were at your restaurant at 2pm. To begin with , a server came to ask us if we were ready to order and we said we needed a few more minutes and we also asked her what the soup of the day was. Five minutes later, another server came to our table and asked us if we were ready to order and told us what the soup of the day was. The first server came back five minutes later and took our orders, and repeated our order to us just to make sure everything was ok. Five minutes later, this same server came back to me and said “ you ordered a burger , right? “ . i said no, i ordered the small beet salad and fried pickles. hmmm.. we eventually received our food. This same server was the one who brought the bill and the payment machine to our table and that was the last interaction we had with her. Even before bringing the bill to us, we could see her sitting at another table chatting with other guests who she seemed to know. We paid our bill and we didn’t really know what to do with the payment machine. We waited five more minutes but the server was still sitting with the other table and just kept talking to the people. I took my part of the receipt, we got up, and left. Such a downer to have had this kind of poor customer service at your restaurant. I must say that the tall young man who greeted us at the entrance when we arrived also greeted us upon our departure to thank us for coming!! thank you! aside from the inconsistent/ poor service from one of your servers, all of the food was delicious as usual! the homemade burgers were amazing and the beet salad was outstanding. i wish i could have the recipe for the dressing!! If we return to Thornbury in the future, we will most likely give your restaurant...
Read moreWas rather disappointed in the experience at this restaurant. The look online and menu seemed interesting so we decided to try it. Right from the start it was one disappointment after another. The greeter seemed very unfriendly and almost annoyed she has to sit us. She wanted to direct us one way but when we asked to sit near the back she gave us a negative look and just said fine. When seated she continued to be rude and we felt rushed. She didn’t seem to care to answer basic questions about the menu and gave short non answers. We eventually ordered and while waiting for our food she tried to come back to take our order again having forgot she even took it. Her excuse was that we didn’t have any cutlery so she forgot she took the initial order, which hilarious because she was the one who was supposed to provide it for us. I had the chicken blt and the chicken was dry and cardboard like and my friend had the roast beef dip sandwich that was basically inedible because it was sooooooo salty and she normally likes salt but this was an incredible amount. The waitress never came back to check on us and see how things were. In fact we stopped another waitress to get my friend some water and to bring us the bill. And at only that point did our waitress come back to bring it. We told her about the roast beef sandwich and she no one has ever complained about it. She didn’t apologize or offer to get my friend anything else even though she had barely touched it and she just handed the machine to pay and walked off without even a thank u. Oh and btw don’t bother ordering a latte there, its basically just a shot glass amount that they didn’t even make it was probably just a nespresso pod. Anyhow save your money and go visit any of the other many great restaurants...
Read moreAfter buying a new car, being an hour away from home we decided to stop In and give this place a try before heading back. The food was good and the service was alright until it came to the bill. Not only did we not see not receive a copy of our bill but we decided that since our meal was so expensive almost 60 for three meals and we had just bought a vehicle we would tip as much as we could. So we tipped 50 cents. It wasn't a lot and we felt bad that we couldn't afford much more but we figured it was better than nothing. The waitress came back and asked us if we had accidently done that. We were confused and she elaborated that she felt the quality of service we had received was worth more than a 50 cent tip. She did this in front of at least 20 other customers and she wasn't quiet. We apologized and told her we enjoyed the service and got out of there. We were mortified. We called in the next day to tell the management what had happened, it was extremely rude!the lady on the other end of the phone turned out to be the one that had served us and told us that she was the manager and we had cost her money by eating there and that it would have been better if we had not left a tip so that she could have 'played it off ' like we had forgotten. When asked if we could speak to someone else in charge she refused to give us any information and would only take our number. I doubt any resolution will be found. My advice: only go to this establishment if you can provide the full tip. Any kind gestures will be taken as an insult. I will never ever go back to this establishment and if anyone asks me for a recommendation I will recommend anything else. What a...
