I am writing this with difficulty - not because it is negative but because this review is filled with emotion and gratitude. My husband and I dropped in today for lunch and we were warmly greeted by Sydni at the door. I went to the restroom to wash my hands after having been shopping while my husband chatted with Sydni at the booth. I never asked what they talked about. Our order arrived in good time, was tasty, and we sat chatting. Sydni refilled our drinks, came by to see how we were doing and then once we were finished, she came with the card machine and an envelope with a sympathy card and an invitation/coupon to return. You see, OJ is having its "paw" party on the 25th and unknown to me, my husband had told her that our beloved dog, Max, had passed away in July (just 2 months short of turning 16) and that we (especially I) were still pretty upset. Thank you so much to OJ owners/management and especially Sydni for your heartfelt message in the card and for your empathy and kindness and the big hug as we left. It meant so much and I am overwhelmed by you taking the time out of a busy day to extend your sympathies. You'll see a photo of Max on my profile picture.
We also want to let OJ's Oxford know that we have been coming to your restaurant since you first opened way back.... can't remember the year but it was a long time ago. We have always been treated well and we have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Thank for being such a great neighbourhood pub/restaurant.
Again, thank you Sydni for being so kind and thoughtful. Best...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst and foremost I really wanted to enjoy this place as it was my first time there. Overall the place was clean and the staff were friendly and polite, however a place can only be as good as its food and unfortunately they have a lot of work ahead of them. I will say that the French onion soup was okay but nothing to write home about, be careful ordering the dry ribs as ours came out very dark from the deep fryer and just put on a plate with nothing else. The steak sandwich is not a sandwich, It's just a steak and one piece of garlic bread and a side. The poutine had a very salty gravy and myself and another member of my family could not eat it because of this and our waitress removed that from our bill. The burger that I received was very dry and there were no sauces on it except for a dime size burger sauce stain on the bottom bun with no cheese, mayo, ketchup or mustard. I do not blame the cooks for this but I do hold management responsible as they're supposed to check the quality and consistency of the food before it reaches the customer. I felt embarrassed bringing my family there as nobody enjoyed the meal. I do not enjoy giving a place a low rating but unfortunately it does happen. Hopefully they correct their deficiencies and get back on track. I would have to rate this place a 4\10 on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe (my fiance and I) have been to different Original Joe's around the Edmonton area and in the city and it has always been awesome food and great service. Having said that, we came into the 127 st location for the first time and expected the same. However we will NEVER be back to this location simply because the "service" was non-existent. We sat down at the only table that was open... In front of the door to the kitchen and entrance to the bar, we had 4 waitresses walk by us, no eye contact, no "someone will be with you in a minute" no here's a menu to look at... literally nothing for 10 minutes, it was painful, we also had someone that looked the part of a manager bringing out food past us and still nothing. So we grabbed our coats and spent $128 after a 20% tip at the Keg Steakhouse on 137 ave. EVERY waitress should be fired at this location, and I'm not the only one that's had bad service according to the reviews. I have never left a bad review before but this was awful. Want a good O.J's? Go to a...
