I booked a reservation online for dinner with my bf at least one week before the date. They were calling for scattered rain in Thunder Bay that day. We were from out of town so my bf and I were out sightseeing all day and all over Thunder Bay. It only rained a little bit and it was definitely not raining at our Airbnb which was 15 minutes away from the restaurant. Maybe two hours before our reservation, the restaurant called and said they have to cancel my reservation due to rain. And that they're only doing indoor dining. I don't know why they just didn't say the patio is closed but we can have dinner inside the restaurant and not cancel my reservation at all. So I asked that. And at first the person on the phone hesitated. Then he said we can have dinner indoors but we're gonna have to sit at the bar. I said ok.
Anyway, it's time to leave to make our reservation. It hasn't rained at all since the phone call from the restaurant. So we were hopeful that maybe they decided to re-open their patio. We get there and the patio was empty. The tables and chairs were put away. But the ground was dry, indicating that it didn't rain there either. We get in the restaurant. There were 2 groups of diners that occupied 2 tables. Still we were seated at the bar.
Whatever. I didn't question this. My bf was looking dapper so I wasn't gonna let it ruin my night. Maybe they were expecting more people to arrive. But only 2 more groups of people arrived while we were there. So a total of 4 tables were occupied. There were 2-3 empty tables in between which I thought is above and beyond the Covid-19 distancing guidelines.
Anyway, being seated at the bar was actually the only positive thing that came out of our experience. At least we were entertained by the bartending scene. We also ordered the Osake Moscow Mule and a Hennessey and rhubarb cocktail (I forget the name) and they were yummy. This is the 1 star in this review. I always try to look for the positives.
Unfortunately, the bad review doesn't end at the bad service. I had the Mafaldine Pasta. It was so bad. I'm the kind of person who eats everything on my plate. I only ate less than half of my pasta. My bf had burger and he had to give me half of it so I at least had something for dinner. My pasta was not only missing salt, it was also bitter. Regardless, I took my leftover home. Maybe at home I can add salt and save the dish. But it was not salvageable at all! When I tried it a couple of hours later, it became super bitter. I had to throw it out. It was $28. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth, figuratively and literally.
If someone from the restaurant reads reviews, I was there on July 28. Maybe try to figure out how it went wrong and make sure that this doesn't...
Read moreMy now husband and I cannot say enough amazing things about Bight. Not a single flaw.
Taylor DeLuca is like the built-in bestie that Bight gives you, and she is an absolute dream to have as the event coordinator. From the start she was kind, helpful, and so easy to work with. I always felt like she had my back, and when the wedding day came, she truly delivered. I was completely stress-free and it turned out better than I could’ve imagined.
From the atmosphere to the food and every detail in between, Taylor made sure everything was perfect and exactly how we wanted it. The food was absolutely top notch — our guests are still talking about it days later. Taylor even planned the most beautiful tasting, complete with décor and thoughtful touches. Not to mention that every other server, bartender and manager that stepped in was equally as incredible.
As a bride, all you want is for your vision to be executed perfectly, and Taylor did just that. For our reception decor, aside from the arch, I laid out and handed her the pieces that I had collected, prepped and organized, told her my vision and she made them look beautiful.
Bight was the perfect venue for our 81-person wedding. Everything we dreamed of happened and the incredible price-point was worth every penny. The experience was unforgettable. Highly recommend Bight and Taylor to anyone planning...
Read moreFar too expensive and very poor quality of food! We had dinner on the patio on Sunday July 20. Our server was excellent which is why I gave a 5 star for that. He was very friendly and attentive so no complaints there. Two of the 3 dishes we ordered were awful. Starter Prosciutto Pizza- the “prosciutto” wasn’t even close to being prosciutto! Something on that pizza was “off”! Both the cheese and the meat were definitely not fresh and possibly spoiled!
The Caesar salad was also one of the worst salads I’ve ever had. It consisted of the inside of a small romaine lettuce heart, cut in half and charred on top. Also thrown in the mix was more of the spoiled “prosciutto” with some grated cheese. Half of the romaine heart on the plate was core, so, it filled up the plate, but you couldn’t actually eat it. It was a terrible combination. But that wasn’t the worst part. We added the grilled chicken, (again not convinced it was actually a chicken breast), which seemed like it was processed and boiled then thrown on the grill to get the grill marks. No taste whatsoever. Couldn’t eat it!
The third dish, the Fritto Misto, was really good! That one made up for the other two major failures!
Far too expensive for what we got. 3 starters and one glass of wine and a martini was over $150. Huge fail. Don’t waste your...
