I don't understand the review and why people rave for this place. I had a hot chocolate and a pistachio croissant. The hot chocolate was HORRIBLE!! It tasted just like sugar, kinda like prepacked cheap Swiss chocolate you get at the grocery for less than $1. It made sense since everything is premade here. I asked for extra milk to dilute it, still pretty sweet. I ended up buying an extra shot of espresso to balance the sweetness. It really didn't feel like worth the money as I'm "trying" to consume the drink so I don't waste it instead of enjoying it. The croissant was ok, not as flaky. The cakes look good on display but as I wasn't satisfied with anything I got, I didn't get anything else after loaded with that much sugar. The patio looks very nice however, that's the 2 stars for. Since everything is premade even espresso, I don't really recommend drinks here, I'd rather go to places that make coffee right and fresh with some actual barista skills. I have very high end taste for coffee, this place just doesn't...
Read moreThe problem with service is that sometimes you experience absolutely stellar service, and other times service that is entirely different. Smartphones and who else is in attendance should not take priority over the person in front of you. That same distracted person should know what is on the coffee menu. I am not here for a "double double" and anything else is not so exotic that a consultation of the board is required.
Most times, a proficient server does serve you, and perhaps it is for that reason someone of much less engagement and coffee knowledge is so sharply contrasted. Still. It is human nature to see the one small blotch of ink on a fresh piece of paper. Blotches can be retrained and appropriate service encouraged. I am not sure whether it is my job to do that. Make a comments or suggestion box available to patrons. Perhaps that is enough for the distracted servers to become engaged.
Good coffee!...
Read moreThe 5 stars is for the young man who brought the latte over to the table, otherwise the reception of my bringing the off milk/cream that was in my latte (and which I couldn’t finish as the flavour became more evident), was met with wordless passive aggression from the young woman, who was more interested in garnering popularity from the people in the line up rather than responding to the “heads up” I was giving Dolce as one who has worked in the industry to another. Since I began going to Dolce, this was uncharacteristic of the service. However, the care to serving quality coffee along with being served in paper cups now, has made Dolce a mediocre place for delicious coffee. $5.00 for a medium sour milk latte. The cashier not responding other than eye rolling and mocking looks has made me decide to not want to sip coffee there again. Save your bucks, taste buds, stomach and moral and go to Tim’s on...
