A MUST TRY IN THUNDER BAY Dining at Lot 66 in Thunder Bay was an experience in refined culinary excellence. From the moment we were seated, the elegant ambiance and warm hospitality set the stage for an exceptional evening.
We began with two appetizers: the calamari and the Diablo shrimp. The calamari was perfectly tender with a light, crisp coating, while the shrimp, though flavorful, leaned more toward mild than spicy. While the portion size was modest for a shared dish, the presentation and taste were delightful. The bread service was a pleasant surprise — soft, fresh bread accompanied by side-table mix of balsamic vinegar and oil, a sophisticated departure from the usual bread and butter.
For the main course, I chose the steak with a shrimp skewer. The steak was cooked to perfection: a beautifully seared exterior with a tender, pink center, just as a proper medium should be. The shrimp skewer provided a succulent, savory complement to the dish. My dining companions opted for the salmon, which was impeccably prepared and visually stunning.
The beverage selection was equally impressive. I indulged in an old-fashioned, crafted with precision and a smooth, well-balanced blend of flavors.
The evening's highlight came in the form of dessert, suggested by Brie, the attentive and personable manager. This dessert was an extraordinary creation of caramelized whiskey, raspberry, and custard — a decadent blend of rich, harmonious flavors unlike anything I’ve tasted before. Additionally, we had a special Persian cake, which was uniquely smooth and pleasing to the palate.
Lot 66 delivers an upscale dining experience characterized by exceptional food, attentive service, and an inviting atmosphere. Special thanks to Brie for her remarkable hospitality. This is a place I will undoubtedly return to, and I highly recommend it to those seeking a sophisticated...
Read moreEXCELLENCE!!!! Where do I even start from?!!! The food? The service? The staff from the door all the way to being served? Unbelievably amazing! I was so glad that lot 66 had loads of free parking spots too. Lot 66 quickly filled up completely on a Wednesday night so I strongly advise that people make reservations like we did.
We each had a 3 course meal but we only remembered to take some pictures because the presentation was so great that we kept forgetting to take pictures and kept digging in to eat. We had 2 different types of salad for our starters then my husband had the duck (medium) with rice and I had a 16 oz rib eye (medium well) with mashed potatoes. I tasted my husband's duck as well. The entrees were just so delicious as well. Just such a moist melt in your mouth meals. We were celebrating my birthday and I ordered the flourless torte with espresso ice cream for dessert and it was just so delicious. I'm so glad we both kept our tummies empty because their meals are very delicious, very filling and the portions are quite large. We will definitely go back there to eat again.
Easily the best restaurant I've been in Thunder Bay and I...
Read moreWe had never been to Lot 66, but when we asked our friends for recommendations for our 52nd birthday dinner (we were born 36 hours apart :) ) - the consensus was Lot 66. The reservation process was super great since it was very easy over the phone and then we got text messages for the reservation AND for confirmation, super convenient! Upon arriving, parking was especially great since they have their own lot. Dinner service was amazing. Our server Jennifer, was super nice, knowledgeable and checked in on us just enough to be "present but not irritating" - not easy to do. Even though Jennifer was pretty busy, she still took time to chat with us and made our night out extra special. I work in the food industry, i went to George Brown College for the Culinary Arts program, and i know a thing or two about food... and the dinner was top notch. My med/rare steak was perfect pink - our shrimp were perfectly cooked... and even the appetizer bread/oil was an over the top experience. In closing... i would not think twice about recommending Lot66 to my friends - and returning next year when we turn 53 is almost...
