I came in looking for authentic Mexican food but left feeling underwhelmed. First off, we ordered chips and guacamole, only to be told they don’t serve guacamole—seriously? Instead, we were offered avocado crema, which was a total letdown. We settled for pico de gallo, but it was bland, pre-made, and days old. Plus, the portion to chip ratio was laughable—way off. I tried the birria tacos, and while the flavor was there, it didn’t sit well with my stomach. The filling tasted like it was microwaved or prepped ahead of time. My partner got two vegetariana tacos and a fish taco. The vegetariana tacos were actually pretty decent, flavorful, and memorable. The vibe of the place? Low energy, mostly due to the music being too quiet. A little volume boost could do wonders, but there was a number of occupants in the restaurant around the time we arrived. Overall, the food was just okay, and I had much higher expectations for this place. Side note there is two locations, wish I would have knows a head of time Partner 1 - * pepto-bismol jingle and you know the rest * Partner 2 - food was rememberable but not...
Read moreMy review would definitely be higher if it weren't for one particular individual - the bouncer (the tall one with grey hair). He's quick to kick out women and on multiple occasions he has gotten unnecessarily handsy with them. I understand he has a job to do, but he's never been as quick to remove or as hands on with men. Whenever he's there, I feel less safe and less comfortable. Because there is no category that this fits into neatly, this has affected the rating of service and atmosphere, because it's hard to enjoy the space you're in when someone makes the environment uncomfortable. I've been nervous to write a review because of him specifically. I know many other people have shared similar feelings about him.
Aside from the bouncer, Nortenos is great. The food is good and all the rest of the staff have been amazing (especially considering some nights can get super busy). The bar manager, Ricardo, is especially great! I love going to Karaoke and their sangria is...
Read moreAbsolute 5 star experience for myself and 4 others at this establishment. Service was bang on and food came out exactly as ordered. Don't be afraid to ask about their custom sauces they make in house. They are extremely good and not on the menu. Also if your a sour cream person ask for it on the side with certain dishes. I find it elevates. Great for large groups and the bar is stocked. I heard they play live shows as well. I haven't been But they kept it very similar to the old venue if you remember it. So definitely a place for beers and live music when available. The food is very unique. And definitely the best Tacos in town. Can see there is care in the making and designing...
