I submitted a mobile order on my way home so that I could just pop in to pick it up as I had my kids with me and groceries to put away. It took 38 minutes to get my order from the time I placed it. When I made the order the estimated pickup time was 10 minutes, which is typical for a mobile order. As I stood waiting in the cramped, under construction café with many other people, I saw multiple people abandon their orders because the wait was so long. Once my 3 drink order was finally being prepared, the barista working on it did 1 of my drinks then made a few drinks for drive thru before completing my order. My 3 drinks were all cold. The drive thru drink were a mix of hot and cold. When I called to share my experience with the manager, I did speak to the assistant manager, I was told that the the waiting 38 minutes is not too far out of the average 25-30 minutes they were taking to do orders at that time and that my drinks were not likely started and then stopped to work on another order before continuing with mine because that is not how they do it, unless it was just someone helping out another person. There were 4 staff members working, it was clear to see what was happening especially as I watching so attentively because I didn't want to me in there a moment longer than I had to. I don't know how the assistant manager could have made the situation better, but gaslighting me to feel that it is no big deal, it is normal to be waiting nearly 40 minutes for a drink, and that I must have been mistaken about when I explained about the barista preparing my order, I felt completely unheard. That is what has prompted this Google review. The drinks were great, when I finally got them. The service was extremely slow and the assistant manager was dismissive of my concern. I even asked why mobile ordering was not disabled when they realized how far backlogged they were on orders; they have certainly done this before; the assistant manager didn't even acknowledge my...
Read moreMy partner and I have been going to this Starbucks for years and this branch has always been excellent. But yesterday's transaction was bad. The employee who served us in the drive thru was rude and made the transaction needlessly difficult (The only reason we used the drive thru is because the order online feature was down). First, they had a bad attitude. When we went to pay with the amount present on the app, the individual told us not to use the app's scan and pay feature but instead use the "scan only" option when she saw a debit card come out to pay the difference. Which is fine, no big issue there, but she condescendingly said that the "tap feature is actually at the top of the screen" while BARELY extending her arm so that my partner had to drop her phone (that she just used to scan), take her belt off, and open the door for this poor-efforted employee to not even attempt to extend her arm. We were by no means "too far" away from the drive thru window, but we were in a low-sitting car. When my partner was finally able to reach to pay after all this, the lazy employee did the same thing with the drink. I understand that you don't want to be hanging out the drive thru window, but the employee was standing straight and her arm was even slightly bent at the elbow, while my partner was struggling to reach. Poor customer service on the part of this employee, usually all of the employees are wonderful here (hence the 2nd star), except this one who clearly feels that she does not have to put...
Read moreBrutal location it’s pickup only? I have never come across an only pickup Starbucks location anywhere else in Canada… they even locked the washrooms so no one can use them and got rid of all the tables and chairs … last time I bought a Starbucks at this location I just can’t support this business anymore they do everything in their power to loose customers… since Covid-19 this company has been absolutely horrendous especially here in Thunder Bay during Covid they had the strictest rules way above and beyond the mandated rules … this specific location is the worse Starbucks location I have ever been to … they have patio furniture outside I’m guessing since they got rid of the washrooms the patio furniture is just for show .. what a waste. Someone here completely lost sight of the purpose of a coffee shop this city is so frustrating I don’t get how people live here their whole life.
Update: it’s been about a year and against all judgement I have gone back to this location only to be told to stand there and wait to order while one person who was the only one capable of taking order I guess was busy doing who knows what chatting to her co - workers and decided that customers inside their store are low priority, and to top it off they kept taking orders through the drive through… I left after 5 mins...
