The Woodside Bar — Restaurant in Thunder Bay

I went in excited for their advertised oyster night, but what a joke. The oysters were sold out within 5 minutes of opening, which is just ridiculous for something they're heavily promoting. Undeterred, we ordered sushi, thinking it would make up for the disappointment. After waiting an hour and 15 minutes with no sign of our food, we decided to check in with the staff. They told us it’d be another 10 minutes, so we waited patiently. Another 10 minutes passed, and still nothing.

When we asked again, we found out they hadn't even started making our food. Apparently, they were catering to a large table before us, but they should've communicated this when we ordered. We should've been informed about the wait time upfront. On top of that, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the situation, which just added to our frustration. We asked for a refund and left—definitely not coming back.

The drinks were fine, but nothing special, and honestly, overpriced for what they were. The only positive was the friendly staff at the bar. LOVE, love, love this place! Jacquie was super friendly, hard working and very knowledgeable about their drink menu and gave fabulous recommendations. The Pillow Talk and the Bucket List were both super delicious! I also enjoyed a cranberry cider made in Ontario. My friends liked the ambiance and it was very clean too. My friend took my here when showing me around town. A local folk cover band played beautiful tunes. Large selection of drinks, wine, neat beers, cidars and mocktails. Located in a collective, you could order food from a few spots and eat by the bar. Lots of local crafts and Artisan stalls to browse. If you are in town this spot is worth trying. Staff were great...
