Lobster Harbour is a relatively new Chinese restaurant in Bridlewood Mall, taking over the reigns from a previous establishment. My friends and I stopped in recently and had quite a FEAST!
Our meal included Sichuan Spicy Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Suckling Pig, Stuffed Crab Claw, Stir Fried Rice Noodles with Beef Satay, and a variety of Dim Sum dishes.
The crown jewel of this meal, however, was the Peking Duck, served in two courses. The first course was thinly sliced duck, carved tableside, and served with delicate pancakes, green onions, cucumbers, and hoisin sauce. Delicious! The second course was the rest of the duck, in a more rustic presentation. This duck is currently available for the special price of $19.99, with a minimum order of $49.90 (pre tax). That's a deal!
Rather than the usual har gow and siu mai, we decided to try some dim sum dishes that were less familiar to us. That was a good move since they were all good!
We definitely ordered more than we could consume but no regrets. Everything was delicious and we took home the leftovers.
Lobster Harbour is located on the upper level, near the north end of the mall, serving classic Cantonese dishes and late-night eats until 2:00am. Check them out!
January 2024
A great start to the new year quickly took a turn for the worse. I was wandering through Bridlewood Mall in search of lunch after an appointment nearby. I came across a poster at the mall entrance of Fisherman Lobster King, showing prices of their BBQ offerings. The Two Choice Combo with Soup seemed like a great deal for only $9.00.
I ordered their Roasted Pork with Soya Chicken. It was served with rice and vegetables. Sadly, the meats were a bit on the dry side and no sauces were provided. The rice was also dry and definitely not fresh. The portions, however, were on the generous side and the flavours weren't bad.
I was quite surprised (shocked) when the bill arrived, showing a total of $23.55! This was a far cry from the printed prices that drew me in! The total automatically included a service charge of $2.00 (for table linen), and gratuity. When asked for an explanation, their English language skills suddenly deteriorated.
Although the meal very closely resembled the ones posted for $9.00, the price was clearly not the same. The poster at their entrance was very misleading. False advertising! Oh, I never got the soup!
For less than a dollar more, I could have gotten FOUR similar and better tasting meals from another place. It's no wonder why a third of their reviews earned...
Read moreA few days ago, I specifically called to book a table and pre-order lamb stew. During the conversation, I repeated several times that I was pre-ordering the lamb stew, and the restaurant staff confirmed the booking and the lamb stew had been reserved for us.
Today, upon arriving at the restaurant and being seated, I reiterated that I had pre-ordered the lamb stew when making the table reservation. The female restaurant manager with glasses immediately suggested placing the order for the lamb stew for us and even recommended the existing lamb stew set menu.
Later, the manager asked again if the order for the other dishes could be placed, we decided not to order for the set menu but to order a crispy fried chicken and snow pea leaves .
After placing order, the manager came again and suddenly claimed that there was no lamb stew available today, stating that the restaurant owner had burned all of it. While she was informing us the lamb stew was not available, the chicken was already served on the table and had made us no choice to leave the restaurant.
We were all disappointed as we purposely come for the lamb stew, and at the same time to our surprise, we noticed that two other tables were being served with two large pots of lamb stew.
We immediately asked the manager on the situation that we observed, the manager even couldn’t provide a reasonable explanation and continued to insist that all the lamb had been burnt by the owner, and further shirking responsibility by saying it wasn’t her who took the table reservation call. This was truly unconvincing.
This restaurant is now permanently blacklisted, and I will not recommend it to anyone else. The restaurant also forcibly charged a 13% service fee on the bill. If the service attitude and food quality were good, we wouldn’t mind paying 13% or even more as a tip. However, given the extremely poor service and handling by the restaurant and the manager this time, it is truly unacceptable.
We ended up paying the tips but not at 13%, the staff and the manager were even yelling at us that we still owed them money. The worst dining experience ever, with such service and attitude.
Not even a star should be given to...
Read moreCAUTION!!! First time here and last. BEWARE!!! DISHONEST!!! SCAM!!! UNTRUSTWORTHY!!! LIARS!!! CHEATERS!!! Our bill was $950 for 6 adults and 1 child. I did some calculations myself when it was time to pay and found that they added the in-house 12% gratuity after tax total which brings the total bill higher than it should. The 12% gratuity should be added before tax so I ended up paying $13 more for the gratuity. 12% before tax gratuity should have been $93 but the gratuity was $105 instead. THIS IS NOT RIGHT! I brought it up to the manager and he offered to return the difference but at this point I said forget it. I should have asked for a copy of the receipt to show it here. They don't even offer a receipt. I guess you have to ask for it. Food was bland and flavorless. Spent $950 total for six adults and 1 child. They don't even accept credit cards, only cash or debit for their high cost bills. So they rip off customers by charging you more and they most likely don't even pay taxes because all their receipts are hand written so they just throw out some receipts for the cash paying customers who end up paying more because they lie and cheat to get more out of you. Very disappointing to say the least. An establishment like this doesn't even take credit cards, receipts are all hand written; very unprofessional. *If you are paying for the crab and lobster by weight, how can you even trust that you are getting what you pay for because of their DISHONESTY?!?!?! When they bring out the crab and lobster, they tell you it is a certain weight and my lobsters and crab were over weight for the combo price that is stated on the menu so they charge you the difference which was almost $60 more in my case. The combo I chose was $799 but when they bring out the crab and lobster they will cook for you, how do you know and how can you trust it is what you'll get because they might just switch it to a smaller one before cooking it because my crab dish seemed way smaller than the one they brought out for me.. Can't trust this restaurant! Trust me,...
