We did an early evening Uber Eats order of three 7Numbers entrées and two sides. The booking and handling of the order was good on a Saturday with delivery early in the promised time window.
Obviously some of 7Numbers Danforth foods are advance prepared to plate and send out, depending what. The famed lasagna is tasty and comforting, I would still say the noodles are quite excessively soft for beginning of day and even for 21- texturally the dish would greatly benefit from more frequent preparation. It’s such a simply tastefully prepared dish.
Also the Pollo Parma, again keeping it simple but hardy and comfortable… This dish is essentially just a piece of nicely dressed chicken breast, and it is excessively dry which implies Batch preparation from a previous time…it seems not made to order which would vastly improve the texture. Still has merit as a solid reliable 26- entrée with good flavours. Will forgive the partially lumpy and mealy texture and even try order this again.
The Icelandic cod puttanesca 29- was a surprise of smells and tastes, first ever try of this salty and fiery specialty. The fish has actually a beautiful texture if one can get past the unfamiliar pungent aroma and try to appreciate what this dish is. it’s not one of the easygoing & subtle mains on offer at 7Numbers and I’m glad to try new things.
The sautéed rapini 9- and sautéed bacon-onion brussels sprouts ‘Cavolini’ 9- were both great with the right degree of smoky-salty pan oil characteristics to enhance the veg texture which is right on point.
These kindly folks have run Gio Ranas restaurant forever. famous meatballs. I will order from here again or visit, and I may also order from the far more recently opened Tulia at Greenwood and Queen for a few different choices and a little different styles approach, maybe less family more classic. Because we are right to love Italian....
Read moreWe arrived just after six on Friday evening and there were plenty of tables available. Server gave us the choice of tables so we chose one right at the front by the large windows.Nice view of all the people passing by on Danforth.
Service throughout the evening was good, timely but never rushed.
Noise level was fine at the beginning but did get louder as the restaurant filled.
Easy access for wheelchair, stroller etc. Washroom is in basement and I'm not sure if there is on the main floor.
I liked the atmosphere which was relaxed and friendly. Brown paper table covers, small candle on each table, candles throughout restaurant. Menu is brought to the table but also written on large chalk boards on wall. There is an open kitchen in the middle of the restaurant.
We shared the Plenta Con Salsicce ($14) appetizer. Very generous portion size that was enough for both of us. We both enjoyed the flavour and mixture of sausage and goat cheese. This polenta was just lightly seared on the bottom. We both really enjoyed it. 5/5
A had the Vitello Al Limone ($19). The veal was served on mashed sweet potatoes and lemon/white wine sauce. She said it was tender and delicious. I tried one bite. We both agree 5/5
I had the Vitello Parmigaino ($19). The veal and sauce were very tasty but I have to say that the veal was a little tough. Portion size was fine. 4/5
We both had a cappuccino and shared a slice of Key Lime pie. Both were good.
The wine, beer and liquor selection is good if a little pricey. We had a half litre of Chianti which was very nice.(served in a chemistry beaker which made us laugh)
With tip it was $125.
Would definitely go again. They don't take reservations for anything less then six people but no one seemed to have to wait long...
Read moreWas there this past Saturday evening and we were not impressed with the meal. We ordered Calamari as an appetizer to share at $16.00. The portion was very small, rubbery, and very smelly. We've had calamari many times and it was never so fishy and never so hard to chew. And they could maybe have provided a dipping sauce of some kind to compliment the calamari. Either way, we wouldn't recommend it, and in retrospect, the squid most likely wasn't fresh.
Our main purpose for going to this restaurant in the first place was that we were both craving a good lasagna. For $18.75 the lasagna did not live up to the hype we saw online. We both found the lasagna to be bland in flavour, but mainly it was very overcooked. So soft you didn't really have to chew it. It did not come with anything else and for this price I would think you would at least get a piece of garlic bread.........wouldn't recommend at least these 2 items.
The meal with one drink each was $90.00 after tax and tip and I've had meals much more satisfying for $45.00 per person.
We sat on the patio on the Danforth side, and there was no protection from the sun at all, luckily it was only for about 30 mins. but the staff were aware that we didn't want to sit in the sun and didn't offer any other alternative. I would also say that the service was a 6/10. Not bad but...
