**Update: Changing review from 5 stars to 3 stars. Food taste nd quality has become inconsistent. Ordered Kachchi, tasted like not freshly cooked and rice was quite hard. Additionally for some items the pricing has become absurdly high. Knowing this is the only Bangladeshi restaurant which doesn't provide free salad with biriyani, I ordered a small salad and got this tiny box. If you are charging 2.99 dollar for a salad like this (which should have been free with a 25 dollar biriyani), then its a NEW LOW for a Bangladeshi restaurant. I am amazed how Turkish/Middle eastern restaurants provide so much superb salad and complimentary add ons with similar priced meals. Learn from the good restaurants, theres always room for improvement.
Ordered for 3rd time, so wanted to update my feedback. For a new restaurant, this is definitely every Bangladeshi in Toronto should tryout. I am a foodie and I will give an honest feedback on the items I tried so far. Tehari: Probably one of the best in town and any biriyani/tehari lover should give it a shot! Meat portion, taste, quality all good!
Snacks: Aloor chop: Reminded me my childhood snack time. The taste, the quality...the best I had in Toronto! This recipe is awesome! Please keep it up! Moghlai Paratha: Not oily yet the taste is perfect. Keep it up.
Breakfast Menu: Kolija bhuna: While the taste is good yet it didnt meet my expectations. If you think of Star Kabab in Bangladesh or any other top restaurants, their kolija bhuna pieces are much more smaller cubes which helps it to blend the spices better. Also their kolija bhuna is more gravy (jhol) while your one seemed a bit dry. Just try to make the kolija pieces smaller (may be one third) and it will need more gravy. Its not a complain just a suggestion and if you change it I might order this item again. Sujir Halwa: while it tasted good but I was hoping for something more softer and buttery
Overall, kudos to you guys. We need more restaurants like you in Toronto! Just one request, the biggest problem with Bangladeshi restaurants in Toronto is consistency! Please please maintain your quality! You can make...
Read moreYou know, when there’s a Bangladeshi restaurant in Toronto serving authentic, mouth watering home cooked dishes, you gotta go check it out. Visiting from Michigan, and hearing about this gem. I had to pay a visit. It’s refreshing to see Bangladeshis representing us in a way that we deserve. The place is inviting, cute, and quaint. The restaurant was clean and decor was hip. This is what I’m trying to see more of, and Mohammed and Urmie are doing just that and more. The place was bustling with people, and the staff were wonderful. We ordered the combo of shahi beef kacchi which came with two kabobs, meant to be shared btwn two. We also ordered the mango lassi and a futchka starter.
The futchka had 8 pieces, delicious and pricing was reasonable. The kacchi was divine, the potato, the boiled egg, the rice was cooked to perfection, you could see each grain fluffy and separated. Not too greasy, just right. The beef was spiced to perfection. Seasoning brought me back sparks of nostalgia from home. The kabob was crispy and smooth on the inside. I could have easily eaten several of these yummy bites of goodness.
I am pleasantly surprised but also at peace that Bengali food is being promoted as it deserves in Danforth. I plan to be back, and I can’t wait to take my other friends and family members to this gem. Thank you to Urmie, Mohammed and their wonderful staff for taking care of us both with their food, and their loving hospitality.
Some pointers: parking is tight so be aware of that. Also i think adding some veggies such as a lemon slices, kaccha morich(chillies), onions and cucumbers would be perfect to pair with the...
Read moreI am not a frequent visitor of Bangladeshi restaurants but Adda will be one of them. I've gone there twice and I've had pleasant experiences both times. Their menu is quite good and consistent. Their outdoor patio seating is wonderful for summer and their indoor dine-in is also great. I've tried their muglai paratha both times I went there, it was great the first time, flaky and light. The second time, the dough was not cooked all the way through and it was doughy. However, the owner came by to ask us how the food was and that's unheard of in the Bangladeshi restaurant business. When I explained about the muglai paratha, he offered to give us an extra one for free, which was very generous of him. We graciously declined as we had a lot left over, but this level of service is also unheard of in the Bangladeshi restaurant business. Their tea is very good, I'm a fan and the only other tea I like drinking is the one from ghoroa. The reason why I'm giving 4 stars is, the food takes awfully long time to come. The first time we ordered kachi Biryani and it arrived 40 minutes after we placed the order. We even had to wait 10 minutes before anyone came to take our order. Even though it was a busy night that day, there were ample waiters, but not sure what they were doing. Their borhani was okay, I've had better. The kachi biriyani was bland in my opinion. My friends ordered something else and I had a taste of that which was better, but I can't remember the name of the dish. But I'll definitely go there again to try other dishes. They have a great photo wall as well which should be great for social...
