Edit: Oct 2024. Gotta say theyve made improvements, had no issues with my past few orders, everything's back to being crispy, spicy, and just the way I like it!
Edit: going to leave an edit to my below review, and I'll be happy to remove this edit if things change. Past few times I've been to BBQ for my fave hot and spicy chicken, it has not been great. The flavour is still there, but the chicken is WET. As in, no breading, barely fried at all, certainly not crispy in the least. Seems like they have a new chef, and they're just dipping boiled chicken in hot sauce and sending it out. I've been very disappointed recently to be honest, and this is coming from someone who orders here several times a month.
I love the hot and spicy chicken flavour tho, so I'm willing to give them a few more chances to get it right, and I'll be happy to remove this edit once they do.
Wow! If there was ever a go-to spot for all you spice lovers out there, BBQ Chicken in Toronto has got to be it. I'm just your average local who appreciates a good, fiery dish and let me tell you, this place does not disappoint.
Their hot spicy chicken? Phenomenal. I've made a beeline for it seven times now, and it never fails to blow me away. The spice level is not for the faint-hearted, but if you're anything like me, you're gonna love it. It sets your tongue tingling and leaves you panting - but in the absolute best way. Not only that, it's flavor-packed and oh-so-delicious.
Then there's the spicy dukk-bokki. Honestly, some of the best I've had in the city. This dish is more than just a fiery heat, it's a well-rounded flavor adventure. No spice for the sake of it here. Every mouthful is a burst of spice that’s perfectly balanced with an amazing depth of flavor.
And we can’t forget the assorted cheese balls. They're a must-order every time. With a mochi-like dough filled with both cheese and chocolate, these little morsels are simply divine. Trust me, you'll want to dive into them while they're still hot - it’s an experience of decadence that you wouldn't want to miss.
Every trip to pick up takeout from BBQ Chicken is met with great service, the food consistently hits the mark, and it’s always tasty as can be. So to all you locals out there and to all who appreciate good spice - don't walk, run to BBQ Chicken. Your taste buds will...
Read moreMy family loves loves loves this place. The food is always consistent and extremely tasty and the staff are pleasant. However, the biggest problem I have with this location is that it doesn't matter if you order through their native app, uber eats, door dash or even in person, they cannot ever estimate how long a order will take. Perfect example, last week my parent were over and I wanted to treat them to Korean fried chicken. Upon placing the order on their app, my order said it would be ready in 21 minutes. So my father and I walked down. 21 minutes, no food. We sat down and watched tons of food delivery folks waiting patiently for their clients order. Many of them on the phone apologizing for the huge delay (in sure they didn't great tips that night). Fast forward to 1 hour (57 minutes to be exact) after we receive our food and no explanation as to why it took so long except, we have lots of orders (note, only two parties of 4-5 folks in the restaurant). Again, this is a recurring theme ever since they opened. The customers time is valuable, and I do understand it takes time to prep/cook food, but this needs to be addressed or y'all will start to lose loyal customers. You'll get the reputation of the place that takes nearly an hour for a small box of fried chicken. I hope mgmt at head office reads this as this is a franchise...
Yours truly,
A loyal customer ever since you opened in...
Read moreThe food is awesome. 6/5. It’s seriously the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. I crave it all the time (my favourites are the boneless cheesling, boneless gangjeong or bonless red chak-chak - their salads are also great, as is their pickled radish and the cheese balls). My family and I eat here at least once a week.
The service can be hit or miss though (it can be slow), but the food is so great that the so-so service always gets a pass.
Today however, it was odd and weird. I went in @ 6pm, and they were playing REALLY loud techno remixes of top 40 music (as opposed to the usual and very fitting K-Pop/Korean music they usually play). I walked up to the bar, and kindly asked the waitress if she could turn it down; she looked me in the eyes … and then completely ignored me. It was so weird and uncomfortable after that (I put in my earbuds after that and watched a movie while I waited). I also asked her for pickled radish, which was also blatantly ignored. This same woman has served me before, and her service is often inattentive (in fairness, there might be a language barrier). Today was the first time in my life that I didn’t leave a tip. But here’s a verbal tip. Stick with the fun and easy listening Korean music you usually play, it’s much more fitting. Super loud techno twisted top 40 music is not needed at a place like this, especially at...
