Edit: Oct 2024. Gotta say theyve made improvements, had no issues with my past few orders, everything's back to being crispy, spicy, and just the way I like it!

Edit: going to leave an edit to my below review, and I'll be happy to remove this edit if things change. Past few times I've been to BBQ for my fave hot and spicy chicken, it has not been great. The flavour is still there, but the chicken is WET. As in, no breading, barely fried at all, certainly not crispy in the least. Seems like they have a new chef, and they're just dipping boiled chicken in hot sauce and sending it out. I've been very disappointed recently to be honest, and this is coming from someone who orders here several times a month.

I love the hot and spicy chicken flavour tho, so I'm willing to give them a few more chances to get it right, and I'll be happy to remove this edit once they do.

Wow! If there was ever a go-to spot for all you spice lovers out there, BBQ Chicken in Toronto has got to be it. I'm just your average local who appreciates a good, fiery dish and let me tell you, this place does not disappoint.

Their hot spicy chicken? Phenomenal. I've made a beeline for it seven times now, and it never fails to blow me away. The spice level is not for the faint-hearted, but if you're anything like me, you're gonna love it. It sets your tongue tingling and leaves you panting - but in the absolute best way. Not only that, it's flavor-packed and oh-so-delicious.

Then there's the spicy dukk-bokki. Honestly, some of the best I've had in the city. This dish is more than just a fiery heat, it's a well-rounded flavor adventure. No spice for the sake of it here. Every mouthful is a burst of spice that’s perfectly balanced with an amazing depth of flavor.

And we can’t forget the assorted cheese balls. They're a must-order every time. With a mochi-like dough filled with both cheese and chocolate, these little morsels are simply divine. Trust me, you'll want to dive into them while they're still hot - it’s an experience of decadence that you wouldn't want to miss.

Every trip to pick up takeout from BBQ Chicken is met with great service, the food consistently hits the mark, and it’s always tasty as can be. So to all you locals out there and to all who appreciate good spice - don't walk, run to BBQ Chicken. Your taste buds will...

My family loves loves loves this place. The food is always consistent and extremely tasty and the staff are pleasant. However, the biggest problem I have with this location is that it doesn't matter if you order through their native app, uber eats, door dash or even in person, they cannot ever estimate how long a order will take. Perfect example, last week my parent were over and I wanted to treat them to Korean fried chicken. Upon placing the order on their app, my order said it would be ready in 21 minutes. So my father and I walked down. 21 minutes, no food. We sat down and watched tons of food delivery folks waiting patiently for their clients order. Many of them on the phone apologizing for the huge delay (in sure they didn't great tips that night). Fast forward to 1 hour (57 minutes to be exact) after we receive our food and no explanation as to why it took so long except, we have lots of orders (note, only two parties of 4-5 folks in the restaurant). Again, this is a recurring theme ever since they opened. The customers time is valuable, and I do understand it takes time to prep/cook food, but this needs to be addressed or y'all will start to lose loyal customers. You'll get the reputation of the place that takes nearly an hour for a small box of fried chicken. I hope mgmt at head office reads this as this is a franchise...

Yours truly,

A loyal customer ever since you opened in...

The food is awesome. 6/5. It’s seriously the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. I crave it all the time (my favourites are the boneless cheesling, boneless gangjeong or bonless red chak-chak - their salads are also great, as is their pickled radish and the cheese balls). My family and I eat here at least once a week.

The service can be hit or miss though (it can be slow), but the food is so great that the so-so service always gets a pass.

Today however, it was odd and weird. I went in @ 6pm, and they were playing REALLY loud techno remixes of top 40 music (as opposed to the usual and very fitting K-Pop/Korean music they usually play). I walked up to the bar, and kindly asked the waitress if she could turn it down; she looked me in the eyes … and then completely ignored me. It was so weird and uncomfortable after that (I put in my earbuds after that and watched a movie while I waited). I also asked her for pickled radish, which was also blatantly ignored. This same woman has served me before, and her service is often inattentive (in fairness, there might be a language barrier). Today was the first time in my life that I didn’t leave a tip. But here’s a verbal tip. Stick with the fun and easy listening Korean music you usually play, it’s much more fitting. Super loud techno twisted top 40 music is not needed at a place like this, especially at...

New review on Jan 13, 2023: I am reducing my rating as I was very disappointed with my latest pick up order. I ordered Secret Sauced Chicken (bone-in, sauce on the side) and BB Wings. The BB wings came as expected, no complaints. But the Secret sauced Chicken was a surprise- instead of 8 pc bone-in chicken (as advertised and previously served) I received bunch of small bone-in pieces including wings boneless bits. It makes absolutely no sense. I have a bbq chicken 10 minutes from where I live but that's trash, I used to get food from this branch and held it at a high standard. I kept two stars bcoz the wings were good. Still I am disappointed with wasting my money on the "Fried Chicken". (bottom 2 pics, video uploaded too) Old review from July 2022: We had a sudden dinner at this place and it was a great decision. bbq Chicken exceeded our expectations. We had Golden Fried Chicken and Wings of Fire. The Golden Fried Chicken gets a 5/5, it was super delicious, perfectly cooked with a crunchy texture. There was no oiliness either. The Wings of Fire gets a 4/5. We have a high tolerance to spiciness so it felt more like sweet and spicy. But we did have a runny nose after a while. This is definitely one of the best Korean fried chicken we had. Highly recommended. (top 2 pics)

Right, so let’s get one thing straight—this place serves chicken. Proper, crispy, golden, beautifully fried chicken. But does it work? That’s the real question, isn’t it? First bite—crunch. Loud enough to startle the table next to me. The juiciness? Unreal. Almost too juicy, if that’s even a thing. Is it? I don’t know anymore. The seasoning? Bold. Daring. Borderline reckless. But does it make sense? Maybe. Maybe not. But somehow, it does. The sauces—my god, the sauces. “Secret Spicy” isn’t just spicy; it’s a commitment. A legal agreement between your taste buds and the flames of eternity. “Golden Original” is classic, but classic like Beethoven—not like your grandma’s fried chicken. And “Gangnam Style”? What does that even mean? I still don’t know, but I ate it, and I felt it. The fries—crispy but soft, fluffy yet firm. They exist in a liminal space between perfection and absolute confusion. Are they the best fries I’ve ever had? No. Or yes. Or maybe I just don’t know what fries are anymore. Service? It was either the fastest meal I’ve ever received or the longest I’ve ever waited. Time lost all meaning. I think they read my order before I even placed it. Final verdict? It’s brilliant. Or is it? No, it definitely is. But also—what just happened?

I recently visited the Korean fried chicken spot, I tried takeaway before. Let’s just say, the fried chicken lived up to the hype—perfectly crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. However, the experience was tainted by incredibly poor service, which unfortunately overshadowed the delicious food. Right from the start, it was a struggle to get basic items. Napkins weren’t provided by default, and I had to ask to get some. Ordered Diet Coke received regular coke, asked to change. Then, when our meals came out, two arrived after a long wait, but the third dish didn’t come until more than ten minutes later—and it wasn’t boneless as ordered. I was willing to keep the mistaken dish to avoid further delay, but they took it back to the kitchen anyway, leaving us waiting. After yet another five minutes or more, I finally insisted on keeping the wrong dish just to have something on the table. The fried chicken here is genuinely perfect, but the service is disorganized and inattentive. If you’re looking for a tasty meal and can put up with the service issues, it might be worth a try. Otherwise, consider takeout if the food is the main appeal.
