Not Smashing IT! 🙄
Sorry, but the food just wasn't worth the hype.
On my first visit, I ordered the following:
Jerk Chicken Dinner. The chicken was good. But not out of this world. I couldn't really taste the jerk seasoning. The rice was too spicey. I'd give it a C.
The Fried Plantains. Good. A little on the dry side. Bland. I'd give it a C.
Festive Dumpling. Dry. Dense. Zero flavoring. I'd give that an F.
Jerk Chicken Sandwich. So SO disappointing. That gets an F!
I will go more indepth regarding the trauma experienced eating the so-called famous Jerk Chicken Sandwich. Next paragraph.
I noticed that the tip options on the POS also seem really high. 🤔
Update Second visit.
Tried the Jerk Chicken Sandwich tonight.
Unfortunately, it was not happening.
It was actually really bad, and the Jerk Chicken Sandwich was not like what I saw in the videos or pictures on IG.
The chicken was not flavorful. It was bland, and it needed salt.
The coleslaw was lacking taste and was ice cold, so against the bun, it was not a good pairing well.
In the videos on IG, they used sliced Jamaican bread, but my order came with some type of folded up puffy bread that was extremely poor quality.
The bread was falling apart and was very soggy.
They need to reconsider the vessel that they are going to use for their Jerk Chicken Sandwich because that bread, it's NOT happening.
They also need to add a touch of salt to their meat.
Also, when I was eating the Jerk Chicken Sandwich, there was a large bone. I could have choked. Anyone could have choked on the bone that I found.
So make sure you're removing all the bones from the Jerk Chicken Sandwich or at least warn the customers.
Because if that was a little kid. I'm sure they would have swallowed it and choked.

Read moreAbsolutely love this place! We've had the jerk chicken meal several times; it's become our go-to. The Chicken is always fresh, perfectly spiced, cooked well and portions are generous. Tried the Fried chicken for the first time yesterday and WOW, it's just tastes like home.
We always add rice + peas and a side of large coleslaw because I LOVE coleslaw and love theirs even more. The cabbage is sliced thin and dressed just right.
There's a cute grocery section as well where you can purchase an array of Caribbean seasonings, hot sauces, beverages, produce, etc. and oh! frozen Michidean Patties!
Apart from all the goodies they offer, it's a family run business. Thankfully, everyone is kind and professional making you feel more welcomed.
From the outside it doesn't seem like anything special, but once inside, you're in for a real treat!
Thank you Blessed Love for being part of the Leslieville neighbourhood and keep up the...
Read moreI love BlessedLove and the front people. It’s great to have an authentic Caribbean grocery/takeout store in Riverside. I gave a low rating for the food, which is not quite fair because this rating is based on one disappointing meal. I ordered the escoveitched fish. The sides were truly tasty and authentic. The fish was crispy and delicious. Why the low score? Because there were more pin bones per bite than meat. Either BL ought to find a better fishmonger (such as neighbours Hooked Inc., which wholesales) or the cook should learn to pull out the pin bones. After discarding the bones, there was little left. The plate cost $22, which might have been right for 3 bony fish, or 2, with the bones removed. I will try other things here, but not the fish, unless they change their...
