Stumbling upon a place with a Michelin star always sets the bar high, so when we came across this cozy donut shop, we were brimming with anticipation. The staff greeted us with such warmth that it felt like walking into a friend’s kitchen rather than a business with accolades.

The place has a bare-bones charm, with seating that’s sparse but thoughtful, offering a bench and a couple of seats by the window—perfect for a quick sweet treat rather than a long sit-down. We didn’t have to wait long; our donuts were served up swiftly, a pleasing start.

The sour cream donut had a tangy richness that I enjoyed, but as some of the reviews had cautioned, the texture was a little too doughy for my taste. The softness wasn’t quite what I expected from a donut, lacking that slight crispness on the outside. And the cinnamon—while I’m sure it’s a hit with some—wasn't really to my liking. It overpowered rather than complemented.

The shop itself had an understated decor, with a modern industrial vibe and neatly displayed coffee bags promising a gourmet experience. Even without plush seating or lavish interiors, the simplicity of the place had its own appeal. It was a quick stop, a chance to grab a bite and appreciate the straightforward pleasure of good service and simple surroundings. Would I return? Maybe, to give another flavor a chance, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. This spot is worth trying at least once if you're nearby and curious about what a Michelin-recognized donut...

I meant to write this review a while ago. This happened a while ago. I think it's really important for safety reasons. I came to the new location and ordered a box of 18. I waited a really long time which was fine although I waited much longer than some people that came after me with smaller orders. The issue is the person at the desk made a mistake and gave my order to someone else. The other customer got 6 donuts. The server realized her mistake and was able to get my box from the lady as she was parked right outside. The server then proceeded to take the box and put a donut back as i think the lady who took my order ate some and then try to give me the box she just retrieved. I was shocked! She didn't know that i saw all of it and tried to give me the donuts that another customer had touched. I immediately told her I saw what happened and that I wanted a fresh one. She did, but this was not okay, safe and sanitary. If you make a mistake, own it and take your time to explain it to the customer and start from scratch. I would have appreciated that so much more. Definitely turned me off from this location. I haven't been back since and still feel hesitant to return. Please don't do this again. Mistakes happen. You can afford to remake it. Risk my health...

I had COPS donuts on my list of things to try after hearing about them a few months ago. Finally got a chance to stop by last week as I happened to be in the downtown area. The place was a bit difficult to find in the dark and I had to circle around once due to the one-way streets in the area.

There was no line up when I arrived around 7:30 in the evening. Staff was very friendly. I purchased a hotbox which contained 36 mini donuts divided among the 3 flavours that were being offered that week. Glazed; Cinnamon and chocolate peppermint. I waited around 10 minutes for the donuts which meant they were a fresh batch. The bite sized donuts were moist and delicious. We took a picture and inhaled one on the spot before driving home.

I didn't mind that the donuts were on a bit pricey side. It was a nice holiday treat and my family mentioned they enjoyed them.

One minor annoyance is sales tax being added to the bill. It did not dawn on me until I looked at the receipt the next day. I thought that baked goods purchased in quantities of 6 or more are exempt from sales...

I went to the Matilda location. Firstly, the customer service was spot on and they took care of me quite quickly. The flavour of the donuts were pretty good too. I prefer the cinnamon, my kids liked the glazed ones. However...the texture was mushy. I am not sure if this is the way they are supposed to be. When I got them, they stayed in the box for about 10 minutes. So if they get mushy after 10 minutes, then they have no transportability. I was really hoping for a "firm" crust with a "moist" interior. But these were just mushy. Maybe I am missing something here. Maybe they needed to stand for a little. Not sure if I will try them again b/c for $9 for 12(mini donuts), i was expecting better. I am giving 2/5 : -3 for mushiness and perceived value based on what I had.
