Read moreThe food building at the Canadian national exhibition is an amazing place to grab a bite. However there are a few things that you need to know before going there. It can be quite crowded during peak times at lunch and in the evenings so it would be best to eat there only off hours. Even so, finding a table can be quite difficult. I would suggest that you have her around table area is just as if you were trying to find a parking spot and immediately jumping in when someone is about to leave. If you are travelling in a group I would also suggest finding a table 1st and then sending people out for food one at a time so that you can reserve a table. If not, you are most likely find yourselves wandering in a group with food in your hands not able to find any place to eat. Also, eating in the food building can be quite hot because of the amount of people there and it can be quite stuffy. If you do not like the heat, I would suggest buying your food and eating it outside under the trees. There are some tables outside that they are much cooler. There are a lot of washrooms in the food building so no worries.
Also, in the food building there is not a lot of natural sunlight. The interior is illuminated by a lot of fluorescent light, so if you are looking to take foodie photos, it is probably not the best area. I was suggest that you take your food outdoors to get better shots.
Another tip is this: a lot of people go to the food building as their First choice for food. However, know that there are a lot of other places to eat at the Canadian national exhibition. In 2019, you might find it better to eat at the food truck area near the inner care center. It is outdoor eating area and I find that there is a much better selection of food.
Finally, one last tip is that some of the Popular places inside the food building can also be found outside. For instance, tiny tom donuts can also be found outside of the food building as well so there is no need to line up in the food building. If you are also looking for corn dogs or ice cream waffles or Funnel cake, I would suggest that you buy those out in...

This year has many repeats and new varieties of foods. There are the normal "safe" canadian staples such as corn dogs, poutines, and sandwiches. And then there are the really unique ones that you can't get anywhere else.
A quick rating of some unique foods there this year:
The Porkie from Pull'd: Semi-Instagram worthy was much smaller than the picture. There is too much flavor. 70% meat, 10% apple fritter, and 20% sauce. Taste - 3/10. $20~
Unicorn Corn by Corn on the Cob: Instagram worthy. Coated in lots of colorful cheese. Taste - 2/10 unless you love parmesan. $15.
Ramen Cheeseburger from SUPA Fries: Looks like nothing advertised. The ramen "bun" is soggy, and you can barely make out the noodles. This is basically a burger with ramen chewy spongy buns with a generous patty with sauce and cabbage drenched in cheddar cheese. Taste - 9/10. $20~
Karaage Soft Shell Crab by Farm to Fryer: Instagram worthy. Soft shelled deep fried grab on a stick with Sriracha sauce and a slice of lemon. Taste - 8/10. $20~
Apple Cheesecake Pounte by Apple Fries - Instagram worthy. Looks like a poutine but is instead coated with syrup and cheesecake bits. Taste - 10/10. $12~
There are also mochi donuts, bubble teas, and tons of other repeats such as deep fried mars bars for your sweet tooth. If you do, however, want free sweets, then I suggest you head to the CNE gaming building towards the very far end where the Nerds Game Room is for their new amazing free samples of Nerd Gummies.
Lastly, if all this is too much, then you can play it safe like Trudeau and just get a Corn dog from the numerous food stalls outside. Politics aside, you definitely can't go wrong...
