Guerlain Spa at Hotel X Toronto — Local services in Toronto

Let me start on a positive note. The RMT Julie was truly wonderful. She was extremely attentive to my needs. The massage she provided was wonderful but also the continued attention she provided after the massage was highly appreciated. I mentioned being interested in a perfume, so she chose perfumes based on my preferences. She was amazing and deserves a lot of credit for the experience provided at the spa.

Beyond the massage, I was quite disappointed. My experience began with an inquiry I made to the spa prior to my visit. The attendant wasn’t able to answer my question on the phone so she took my name and number and offered to call me back. She didn’t call me back. A month later, I called back with the same inquiry. The individual followed the same process stating she was unable to answer my question and would take my name and number and call me back. I made her aware that I previously provided my name/number with no response. She stated that she will in fact return my call. Low and behold, I received no response for a second time. That initial encounter left a bad taste in my mouth and I hadn’t even visited the spa yet.

The spa itself does not compare to many of the other hotel spas in Toronto (shangri la, four seasons, the ritz, st. Regis). Absolutely no products are provided for post shower use. No combs, no brushes, not even moisturizer or deodorant. I was quite surprised to see that.

My sisters and I were excited to use the lounge. It is very comfortable and has a wonderful view. However we were quite surprised when we were told to leave after 30 minutes. I’m not sure if this is Covid related but I haven’t experienced this at any of the other spas (listed above) during my visits since 2020.

I recognize that an email was sent stating that parking can be validated. It’s not always top of mind when paying and it wasn’t mentioned when we were paying as a reminder. That would have been appreciated.

All in all it was a wonderful massage and beautiful space. I’m glad I visited the spa to get an idea of how it compares to others. Unfortunately with so many excellent spas in Toronto, I do not recommend visiting this one.

Update to my review: as per the Director of Spa’s response, I have no record of any missed calls nor voicemails from the spa. To say that she contacted me “privately” and didn’t get back to me on time with my requests is a flat out lie. No one ever contacted me,...

I expected to have a nice spa day with my sisters. I had a wonderful massage by Shana - she could not have been more attentive! After my massage, I was led to the spa lounge and met up with my sisters. Abruptly after 30 minutes in the lounge after our massages we were told our time in the lounge was up and that it was time to leave. It was disappointing as we had hoped to spend the day together. As a non-hotel guest, we did NOT have access to the pool or roof top restaurant. Other spas at luxury hotels allow you to use their services for the day. We will be choosing a different spa for our next sisters get together where we can actually spend the day together.

Also, I was disappointed when I got home to read a review that said they validate parking. It would have been nice to be offered parking validation while I was there, but I was not. I did receive a phone call from the spa manager to followup my online review and she did apologize and pointed out that in my confirmation email (in fine print) it states that self parking is complementary, although I did not notice that. She explained the reason for 30 minute time limit in the lounge was due to limited space. If the spa has limited space and therefore limited amenities to offer their guests, then the price should be reflective of that. A massage at this spa should not be similar price to a massage at one of the other luxury hotels (Shangri-La, Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, etc) if Hotel X cannot offer the same or similar experience. Also, the spa manager told me she was going to call my sisters to followup with them and offer her personal apology but no such call was made to either of them.

This would be a fine place for a massage for hotel guests, but I'd recommend looking at one of the other luxury hotels listed above if you're looking for a spa day as an outside guest.

I called her back on Monday June 20 and left a message with her staff for her to call me back as she was out of the office. I recently had the pleasure of visiting Guerlain for a makeup session with the incredibly talented Erica, and I cannot express how thrilled I am with the entire experience. From the moment I stepped into the spa, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of luxury and tranquility that set the tone for what turned out to be a truly exceptional visit.

First and foremost, Erica not only possesses incredible skill, but also a keen understanding of her clients' desires and comfortabilities. Erica took the time to listen to my preferences and vision, and then worked her magic to create a look that exceeded my expectations. Her attention to detail and precision showcased her passion for her craft, leaving me feeling confident and beautiful. A few other ladies I was attending an event with that evening also visited the spa for makeup services and they all looked beautiful and felt confident.

Beyond the exceptional service, the spa itself is gorgeous. The decor is a perfect blend of modern elegance and classic charm. The ambiance is soothing, providing a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The attention to detail in the spa's design mirrors the meticulous care that Erica puts into her work.

What truly sets Guerlain Spa apart is the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the staff. Every detail was thought of and every attendant I had the pleasure of encountering throughout my visit was warm, yet professional. It was truly a pleasure.
