CEYLON SPICY HUB — Restaurant in Toronto

I visited this restaurant today on Father’s Day with my three young kids (all under 6 years old). Sadly, it was a frustrating experience from start to finish.

We waited over 50 minutes just to get water. A group that came after us was served before us, and only when we asked did the server bring us water.

We arrived around 7 PM and didn’t leave until 9:40 PM, which is far too long—especially with small, hungry children. There were only two servers for about seven occupied tables, and the service was extremely slow.

I had placed a takeout order (butter chicken koththu and seafood koththu) and waited at a table with my kids. Even though we were waiting for takeout, the food was not ready for a very long time. To make things worse, the server asked me to give up the table and stand with my kids because they needed it for other guests. I found this very unreasonable—especially since we were still waiting for our food and had young children .Overall service and treatment were very disappointing. The atmosphere at this restaurant is absolutely fantastic — the vibe is welcoming, cozy, and perfect for a relaxing meal. The Kottu was also a standout; it was flavorful, well-seasoned, and definitely worth the visit! However, I wouldn’t recommend the Mutton Biryani. It didn’t meet my expectations, as it was lacking in flavor and spice.

That said, the service was a letdown. There seemed to be a serious lack of coordination among the staff, and the management could use some improvement. We waited for around 30 minutes just to get the menu, and then another 30 minutes to receive our food. I noticed many other customers were also waiting, which created a frustrating atmosphere for everyone.

A suggestion to improve service would be to assign a dedicated staff member to each table. This would help streamline the experience, reduce wait times, and enhance overall customer...

We’ve been dining at Ceylon Spice Hub a few times per week since they opened, and it’s safe to say this place is already a gem in Scarborough’s food scene. Every visit has been a consistently great experience. Their daily rice and curry is always packed with flavour and never disappoints. You can truly taste the authenticity in every bite.

The servers are warm, welcoming, and always eager to serve you with a smile. It’s clear they take pride in offering genuine hospitality, which makes the atmosphere feel like home.

Also the weekend buffet, it’s absolutely fantastic! A wide variety of dishes, fresh and full of rich Sri Lankan flavours, perfect for anyone wanting to try a bit of everything.
