Our Restaurant Review: CHRIS JERK BISTRO
Located 7220 Kennedy Rd. Markham Scarborough, CHRIS JERK BISTRO is a hidden gem that promises an authentic taste of Jamaica ….right in the heart of Markham.
During our recent 3-day menu taste testing extravaganza, we were treated to the best Jerk chicken and other delights that left our taste buds twerking.
One of the standout dishes we indulged in was the basmati rice and peas accompanied by a quarter chicken jerk and perfectly steamed veggies.
The flavours melded together harmoniously, creating a culinary experience that was nothing short of exceptional.
The sweet potato fries and jerk poutine were also a hit, offering a unique twist on a classic favourite North American dish.
Our culinary journey continued with mouthwatering selections such as fried chicken, plantain, oxtail, and a delectable macaroni pasta salad.
Each dish earned a perfect 10 out of 10 in our books, showcasing the chef's dedication to quality and flavor and the back of the house team work as a whole.
The basmati rice, fluffy and fragrant, served as the perfect canvas for the bold flavors of the dishes.
It was evident that the jerk chicken was prepared with his ancestors expertise and passion, reflecting its origin roots in Portland, Jamaica.
Every bite was a symphony of authentic herbs and spices that transported us to the bustling streets of the original parish of jerk chicken.
Not only was the food exceptional, but the portions were generous, ensuring that no guest left unsatisfied.
The staff at CHRIS JERK BISTRO were not only friendly but also incredibly attentive and well-trained. Their warm hospitality added an extra layer of charm to our dining experience, making us feel like cherished guests in their home. THANK YOU LADIES.
As we eagerly anticipate our next visit, we look forward to sampling the vegetarian, salmon and other fish dishes that CHRIS JERK BISTRO has to offer.
With such a remarkable culinary journey behind us, we can't wait to see what other delights this establishment has in store.
THANK YOU ALL @CHRIS JERK BISTRO, for a truly unforgettable dining experience. See you...
Read moreI would like to give them more stars. Their food (what I have had once before) was tasty. However, their "customer service" leaves much to be desired (from two visits). The first one visit involved trying to buy some shawarma poutine. I got up to the order desk to only to be told no more shawarma. Ok, fine, no biggie. It happens towards the end of the day (early dinnertime, but it could be popular). Only to have someone else's shawarma poutine order to be placed in front of me (after I changed my order). A bit annoying (especially with the curt attitude of the order taker), but surely it's just a one time thing I thought.
So recently I was passing by (at 5pm) and thought to myself, "Hey, let's try them again"... And this was the more aggravating visit. I enter and to the right I see a chalk board with "Daily Specials"... they list three different specials. "Ok, let's try one"... so walk up to the order area and ask for one of the specials. "Sorry, daily specials end at 4pm" (note I was there at 5pm and they were still posted)... We still have the stuff for the specials, but you have to pay full price. (and then one of the staff from the back runs out to take down the various special meal stickers)
Sadly, customer service is not their strong point. In fact, to be told "Hey, we have the stuff for the specials and we forgot to remove the specials list but you have to pay full pop" (and who ends their daily special at 4pm??? If it's a lunch special, call it that) leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. As I said, I did have some of their offerings before (not what I wanted, but let's get past that) and it was very tasty. But especially how the second visit went down? Sorry, I won't be back and I cannot...
Read morePublic health will he notified - We are under lockdown and they dont follow covid 19 measures. Not all staff wear masks and still allowing multiple customers inside.
The google reviews brought me here but I was a little surprised as to why. The service here was not great. African Canadian woman behind the counter wearing a turban wasnt the nicest person to talk to. Had an attitude for some reason when I was I inquiring about menu items. I called 6 or 7 times prior to showing up to order ahead of time and no one answered. After I ordered I was instructed to wait in my car until they called me. They didnt call me until 20 mins later to pick up my food. I sat there watching multiple customers inside the restaurant. Are we not in lockdown due to a global pandemic? I specifically asked them to make my food spicy but that is not an option here. There is no mild medium or spicy which surprised me considering Carribean ppl love their spice. They said they would include hot sauce but they didnt. I asked twice and they didnt include it. I only noticed it wasnt included when I got home.
As for the food, it lacked flavour and had zero spice. The vegetables were cooked well though. They also make their rice and peas using basmati rice (indian style) just in case you're not into that. The portions are big but this place is more canadian than carribean. If the girl behind the counter changes her attitude, and this place adheres to covid 19 protocols, maybe I'd try it again when we are out of this pandemic. But if you're going to blatantly break covid 19 laws by not having your employees wear masks and allow more than 5+ people inside, I wonder how clean your food really is. Zero...
