Cocoon Coffee is about a 3 min drive north of Yorkdale Mall and they stood out to me because almost all of the guides that I could find said that you HAD to visit them if you’re in the area, so I did!
As I walked up to their storefront, I noticed a few people sitting on a bench outside, happily enjoying their coffee and some pastries on a chilly Ontario morning. 🥶 After scouring through their IG feed the night before, I was already super excited to give Cocoon a try, but at this point I was really looking forward to seeing what they had to offer.
When I stepped into their store, I was immediately greeted with warm welcomes from the owners, Emma and Andy. Now, while I was researching them, the item that really caught my eye was their cake cube, specifically the earl grey one. Imagine my disappointment when I glanced over to their pastry display and noticed that they were already sold out. Luckily, when I asked Emma about them, she told me she actually had a batch in the back that were almost ready. If I was willing to wait a few minutes then she could quickly put the finishing touches on them and have them ready for me. You better bet I waited, and boy was it worth the wait. 🤤🤤🤤
First of all, not to undersell their latte because it was amazing, but their cake cube was the star of the show. While it was a bit on the sweeter side, I found that it actually paired very well with the latte. The earl grey flavours are prominent in every part of the cake. The icing is the perfect consistency and the purple cornflowers sprinkled on top as a garnish really brought the entire pastry together.
Thank you to Cocoon Coffee for their amazing hospitality, and I’m so glad I got...
Read moreI am not one to leave reviews, but I loved this cafe so much that I thought I would share my thoughts.
I am in town for a few days. Having a bad week and needed a latte pick me up yesterday morning. I came across Cocoon Coffee on Google Maps and decided to head over and try it since the reviews were really good. I was not disappointed. Emma and her husband are very kind - If you have any dietary preferences Emma makes sure to keep them in mind when giving you recommendations. I had the vanilla latte with oat milk, a lime + coconut scone, and a raspberry macaron, and everything was absolutely delicious #ChefsKiss. What is more, Emma makes all the baked goods HERSELF and they are phenomenal: light, fluffy, and very pleasantly sweetened. The latte was the best I have had, and Emma had it sweetened to my preference (not too sweet). It is easily apparent how much care and attention this lovely couple puts into not only their food and drinks, but into making sure that their customers are happy and that they feel welcomed. I was greeted warmly upon arriving and our whole interaction was lovely. Can't wait to stop by again!
If you're in North York and want to try a cafe you haven't been to yet, or if you're from out of town and need a caffeine fix, you should definitely head over to Cocoon Coffee. Trust me, don't walk.....RUN!!! it's that good. :)

Read moreGreat little community coffee shop. They have all the staples of a modern contemporary cafe and the menu is what you can expect from most espresso bars.
The highlight for me was the design of the space and the service. The space is large and bright and maximized seating for the limited square footage. Industrial and warm at the same time. Nice place to sit, drink coffee and read or study. The other highlight was the staff. All I can ask for in a coffee shop is staff who care and these people do. They greet you, help you and are friendly while doing it.
The coffee is average to above average which is a good thing. Nothing is off putting and nothing is spectacular but for a local shop, this is the kind of coffee place a neighbourhood needs. Safe and reliable in everything they make. I had an iced latte and the shots were bright and nutty. Not sure what beans they use but technique was sound and the flavour profile was solid. Would like to see drip coffee options in the future.
I didn’t have the pastries but looks like they have all the staples and they looked decent. No parking but plenty of public lots around. Price was also as expected, you’re paying for some extra quality so it’s worth.
Check this place out, glad to see a place like this in this...
