Staff are extremely RIGID, explicitly said they would do something, did the exact opposite which is disappointing since I was accommodating to them

Slow service, mediocre coffee and understaffed for the amount of customers. I do feel empathetic towards them since they do look overwhelmed, but that’s on the owner! Greed in the mix?

Now the juicy part. The vibes are waspy and pretentious as heck, closeted conservatives who benefit from seeming progressive for self promotion. A person walked by who visibly appeared to be from a lower socioeconomic background with two big dogs, immediately everyone pulled their dogs away in disgust and dismay.

While I let my dog socialize with theirs and got informed that they are friendly, I over heard a table with whyte peeps say “that made me so stressed for that person, how was he fine letting his dog get near that person” umm ok?

Mind you these are probably the same people that have “I support neighbours in tents” signs on their front lawns

Also get over the no dog policy in the cafe, people are in and out! Food safety bla bla, yet nasty privileged nepo baby’s can stroll in and out...

update

After 5 months, nobody has tried to contact me to rectify the situation and I’m not surprised. I expected better.

The older gentlemen serving today on Wednesday the 19th at 2:54pm was so incredibly disrespectful about me having my service dog in the cafe with me. I’ve had bad customer service experiences before but this one takes the cake.

Didn’t say hello, didn’t even ask me if my dog was a service dog, just completely refused me service. What turned into a nice afternoon walk for coffee with my service dog turned into a confrontational nightmare… Please train this man on how to deescalate and prevent conflicts by asking questions first instead of assuming and being completely disrespectful. He also proceeded to close the door on me while I standing in the doorway, and I would’ve been hit had I not moved. I’ve never had this issue with any other employees working at Contra. This type of attitude will loose you a lot of customers. What a shame, I won’t be returning ever again, not even without the dog. So...

I’ve been wanting to go to this café for awhile and I finally made the time on Sunday to go. I love 45mins away and I was going there to check out the café and get some work done. When I got there the café itself is really aesthetically cute. I ordered a salted caramel brownie (delicious) and a hot chocolate (not great, couldn’t finish it). After ordering and paying for my things I asked about wifi and was told they only have it Mon-Fri. I had specifically travelled to the café to do work and to only find out there’s no wifi. It was really frustrating especially since I’d just bought my food/drinks so I couldn’t even leave to go somewhere else. A wasted journey. Personally I don’t understand why it doesn’t have wifi all the time since it’s an age of technology. Wasn’t my favourite place to go and I got an unusual vibe off the staff like I was an outsider who wasn’t welcome. Wont be going back...

SPACE: Clean with good natural lighting. The seating along the wall was tight. Outdoor patio seemed appealing but it was raining and could not use it. Love the curb appeal on the corner lot as it seems very local and off the beaten path. CROISSANT: The butter and chocolate croissants were an enjoyable snack that could be had everyday. Well done. COFFEE: Sadly the cappuccino with oat milk fell very short of expectations. It was extremely bitter. The temperature was acceptable but the presentation was poor / non existent. STAFF: Nothing overly memorable. Kind and to the point.
