Craigs cookies WAS a once humble little cookie spot and now that they have some hype & success it seemed they have turned into quite the opposite. There cookies used to be good but the last I had them they were extremely salty & over priced.
I’m vegan since the past 8 months & a friend who I used to bring Craig’s cookies to told me they had a vegan option now. Hesitant from the last salty batch I tasted but remembering the good times from back when they first showed up on the cookie scene, I went to check it out anyways.
On Uber eats it was already disappointing you couldn’t choose the flavours with the only options of a surprise mix but as of now there is no vegan options for uber eats or delivery. I would be surprised if they had more than one flavour for the vegan option also. They say “coming soon” I should hope the reasoning for this isn’t technical being it’s truly not hard to add a subtle change like this to a website or Uber eats for that matter.
As for the surprise mix.. I am aware their cookie flavours change by the minute so there is no guarantees but at least an advertised option to choose & if the flavour isn’t avail they put a random flavour (for the non vegans). If that’s a thing it’s not well known or well advertised.
It costs $10-$11 for delivery fee making the already pricey cookies (1/2 doz $18, doz $32) go anywhere from $35-$50 after delivery. That’s if they choose to deliver that day/week because whoever is in charge of their Uber eats frequently likes to change their mind if they feel like even offering to deliver. One day they deliver & another day they do not. I find it interesting they say they have no control over delivery fee but I have seen the delivery fee change & it makes me wonder who truly chooses the delivery fee.
Yes I am aware there are other options to buy their cookies other than Uber eats but I look at a business as a whole when I am going to support it & was turned off by a few things not just their Uber eats.
Craig’s cookies is not the once humble cookie spot they are now seemingly sellouts to their once humble cookie seller virtues. I love an under dog that has faced obstacles & persevered only to create a business & be successful. However I also love that business to kind & loyal to their customers who supported them & believed in them from the start.
Their cookies are often said to be overly salty by most however they don’t seem to care that most people complain about this & it appears as though they are in business for themselves not for their customers.
From what I’ve heard & have seen in other reviews they are not good at constructive criticism & just call every unsatisfied client a bully. Criticism is apparently just spreading “negativity” as I’ve heard the owner say in response to another review. Interesting enough considering the review that mentioned Craig (owner & founder) harassed (allegedly) & lost his temper on a customer (admittingly). They don’t seem to be very helpful in addressing real issues & their staff seemingly could care less to be helpful either from what I’ve read (they are too busy to care is the excuse).
Price wise from a business standpoint even seems to be a bit excessive but understandable if they are trying to open multiple chains in the future. I can justify price if the business ticks all my boxes but Craig’s cookies doesn’t tick them all.
I’m certain I’ll be called a bully for this review. Perhaps Craig’s cookies shouldn’t be in business if they cannot handle what it means to run a business. Remaining professional & helpful in the face of criticism & other issues is a key part of that.
Many stores have struggled through the pandemic & it’s up to us to support the ones we wish to see prosper. Consider how the businesses treat their customers, their inclusivity, are they eco friendly etc along side the quality of product they produce before supporting them.
There are much better cookie spots you can support that deserve it ten fold and for less price , less salt & better customer...
Read moreLocations are NOT friendly for those with allergies at all. Don’t get me wrong, being unable to 100% guarantee a nut-free cookie due to cross contamination is 1 thing and understandable, but this place is simply lazy. There are very easy steps one can take to at least reduce the risk of this contamination, such as at least using different tongs when picking up cookies that contain nuts & peanuts. They don’t even do this bare minimum and straight up tell you there is a high risk of cross contamination. This is not due diligence and they fail to accommodate in ways that are perfectly expected and reasonable of a business. They should not even advertise that they have nut free “ish” things on their website, because with how careless they are they should be worried someone with an allergy is going to get seriously affected. Waiting in line after seeing nut free “ish” just to see such careless behaviour in the making of the cookies and being told the chances of contamination is ridiculous.
EDIT: Note to the owners, there is no need to guarantee you can provide nut-free goods, but if you'd like to take something away from this review, do the following: (1) designate specific utensils for cookies that contain nuts/peanuts and do not have your employees use them for other cookies; (2) sterilize all aforementioned utensils; (3) this should go without saying, but do not cook cookies that contain nuts/peanuts in the same bowls, ovens, etc. and with the same tools as those that do. Your response to my comment says you try to accommodate as much as possible, but that is simply untrue. These are some of the bare minimum things you can do to not only make consumers more comfortable, but manage your OWN risk as a business and limit the possibility of someone suffering from a serious allergic reaction after eating your cookies.
Lastly, do not advertise cookies as "Nut Free Ish" - this comes off to the consumer as something suitable and targeted for those with nut allergies, when it is not. Terms like "x free" - whether that be nuts, gluten, etc. is a label used to indicate allergen-safe foods. If you're targeting those that simply don't like nuts, change...
Read moreI honestly had the worst customer service experience at this location. I went in yesterday on September 15 around 9:00 pm. My two sisters and I entered, and we were treated nicely by the cashier. As my other sister ordered, an employee named Ethan came out from the back and yelled at us that there was only a two-person policy. We were shocked and taken aback by his extremely aggressive tone. We did not see the policy, and the cashier did not say anything to us when we first came in. We responded we did not know that, and we are from the same household. He interrupts, yells he "DOESN'T CARE," and for one of us to get out. The initial cashier who was helping us looked so shocked too. So I know it was not just our perception.
I understand that working in the food industry can be difficult, and you may have bad days—however that is completely unacceptable. Not only did he interrupt an order, but he treated us like we were dirt. I was so shocked it brought tears to my eyes. I do not understand why he thought it was okay to speak to us like that? Is it because of our race or gender? I have a hard time believing he would talk to anyone else like that.
I am still shaken up about this experience. We had a great night celebrating a huge accomplishment and wanted to end with Craig's cookies instead; we were disrespected, belittled and yelled at by Ethan. I am still so shocked and hurt by this. Ethan needs to do some deep reflection and company EDI training. I truly hope this can be rectified no one should ever walk into an establishment and be treated the way we were by your employee Ethan. This was truly a humiliating and...
