Edit: In response to the owner's reply, I understand that the CTV article you linked states the tax break ended "at midnight on February 15." While technically midnight marks the start of the day, it seems CTV was referring to the end of February 15, which could have caused confusion.

According to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), the GST/HST tax break was in effect from December 14, 2024, to February 15, 2025, inclusive. The CRA specifically states: "Starting at 12:01 am (local time of the business) on February 16, 2025, resume charging the GST/HST" (https://www.canada.ca/en/services/taxes/child-and-family-benefits/gst-hst-holiday-tax-break.html). This confirms that purchases on February 15 should not have been taxed.

Additionally, the official bill summary confirms the tax break was "between December 14, 2024 and February 15, 2025 inclusively" (https://www.parl.ca/documentviewer/en/44-1/bill/C-78/first-reading).

Original Review: On the last day of the tax-free period, Döner Station Kebab attempted to charge tax even though it was still in effect. The cash register correctly showed no tax, but they manually added tax to the credit card machine. When questioned, they falsely claimed that the tax-free period had ended even though it clearly had not.

This raises serious concerns about their honesty. If they’re willing to overcharge on something so obvious, what else might they be adding to the bill? Double-check your receipt and payment details if...

I had a fantastic experience at Döner Station Kebab! The $9.99 Falafel Box is a great deal

You have a choice salad, rice, or fries as a base, and it comes packed with crispy, flavorful falafel and a wide variety of delicious sauces.

The portions are generous, and everything was fresh and satisfying.

I went on a Wednesday and tried the special chicken shawarma on French fries Deal.

It was absolutely delicious! The chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the fries were crispy and golden underneath all that flavor.

The staff at Döner Station Kebab are incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Big thanks to Manager Vakkas for his wonderful recommendations . He really knows how to guide you to the best options on the menu.

They also offer Turkish coffee for a rich, authentic touch, and their rice pudding is creamy and comforting and is a perfect way to end any meal.

Highly recommend this place for anyone craving tasty Mediterranean food with...

Absolutely fantastic experience at Döner Station Kebab!

From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm. They were attentive without being overbearing, and made sure I felt welcome. The menu offered a great variety of kebabs, sides, and sauces — everything sounded delicious.

I ordered the lamb döner wrap and it exceeded all expectations: juicy, flavorful meat, fresh veggies, and the perfect amount of tangy sauce. The bread was soft but nicely toasted, and the portion size was generous.

The ambiance is cozy and clean, with tasteful decor and comfortable seating. It’s a great spot whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout. The place has a lively energy, but it’s not so loud that you can’t talk.

If you’re craving authentic, mouthwatering kebab in North York, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back and I’ve already been recommending it to...

I was hoping for better given the solid reviews. I had the $8.99 chicken special (on rice) with garlic sauce and a hint of their hot sauce. I was very disappointed given the reviews, especially since I was very hungry. Staff are friendly enough, although a tad robotic. They add a 3rd choice of sweet sauce...but I wasn't about to ask what it was. The portion size was good, but sorry to say, the rice was so overcooked/mushy and was just the cheap short grain. The chicken was sliced thinly and soft so it felt slimy. At least cook it better on the spits, please. So many globs of fat truly ruined the experience as the slices of chicken were thin so the only way to find it was to chew it. Yuck! Metal cutlery available for eat-in was nice. Will likely never go back as I felt sick on the drive home. You really have to do something badly for me to be so harsh in my honesty reviews, but I felt sick.

Just gave this place a try for the past 2 days in a row. Tried at lunch (take-out) and dinner time (dine in). Both times the quality was consistent. I got mixed meat box (chicken and beef) with salad and fries. Food was pretty good and loved how fresh the veggies were. I think I liked the taste more of the chicken compared to beef so next time I'll be trying just a chicken box. For a fast food place it felt pretty healthy and clean eats. They don't cheap out on the toppings, always willing to add more when you ask and the sauces are flavorful. Really damn hood price considering the amount of food you get - my husband and I can easily share a box and not feel sickly stuffed afterwards. Place is very clean, modern style and good service. Staff is friendly/polite. A must try for those budget friendly times. Great location corner of 2 major busy roads. Definitely recommend and will be visiting again!

I recently visited Donner Restaurant and tried their chicken shawarma and mixed (beef and chicken) shawarma. For reference, I had the wraps, not the sandwiches. The chicken shawarma was just okay nothing particularly memorable but decent enough. However, the mixed shawarma was disappointing. The beef had an unpleasant aftertaste, which made it hard to enjoy. In fact, I couldn’t even finish half of it. That said, the garlic sauce and sweet sauce were quite good, which slightly redeemed the experience. The restaurant itself is clean, and the staff are friendly and welcoming, so I appreciate the effort they put into customer service. While I haven’t tried their other offerings, their sandwiches are reportedly their bestseller. Overall, I’d rate Donner Restaurant a 2 out of 5. The service and cleanliness are commendable, but the food, at least what I tried, falls short of expectations.
