Daal Roti — Restaurant in Toronto

Daal Roti Etobicoke is NOT located in Rexdale Mall, 2267 Islington Avenue. The ACTUAL location of this new Daal Roti is 21 Rexdale Blvd., located on the lower level of the Costco plaza where there are stores and restaurants facing Rexdale Blvd. Plenty of parking, too, e.g. sheltered during bad weather.

Today, I dropped into Daal Roti for a quick lunch time snack of four mild samosas. I dined in, instead of takeout to bring home. This new restaurant wasn't busy, surprisingly. Service was topnotch, friendly and helpful. The table settings sparkled, with engraved dishes, cutlery and glassware. First class setting.

Pricing: what a deal for these yummy samosas!

The vegetable samosas were the best that I have eaten in a very long time from any location anywhere. Delicious! There were two fresh and tasty sauces in little bowls that accompanied the samosas perfectly. My tummy can be a bit touchy at times when it comes to spices but that wasn't a problem at all! I absolutely loved my meal and will return to Daal Roti Etobicoke soon.

The menu was very impressive and I'm thinking that the next time I visit, I will order the Butter Chicken and maybe even the Gulab Jamun for dessert. Yum! Looking forward to it already. But, today's samosas were the perfect start for my weekend. Big recommendation from me!

UPDATE NOV. 24, 2024: Traffic was a breeze and I happily enjoyed dining alone this evening at Daal Roti in downtown Rexdale. What a beautiful place to dine! I peeked over at a young couple enjoying a romantic dinner. The music was wonderful and not loud. Everything sparkled, as before. Attentive, topnotch customer service. I was even fortunate this evening to talk to the owners who were so gracious, kind and caring.

My meal was fabulous! The Butter Chicken was tender, juicy and absolutely delicious in the lightly seasoned tomato sauce. Lightly seasoned per my request for my tricky tummy. The rice was perfect, unlike my lumpy cooked rice at home! The Garlic Naan slices were sizzling hot and tastier than regular old garlic bread. Generous portions of the foods. Big flavours. Surprisingly low prices for the gourmet quality food served here.

The server was great, too. Topnotch customer service from everyone. I felt welcomed as an honoured guest. This was a really enjoyable food experience for me. If I can't travel to faraway places, at least I can delight in great-tasting foods that I don't cook at home. I will return again very soon to Daal Roti in Rexdale, on the lower level of the Costco mall. Very big recommendation from me! You've got to come here to try it for yourself. I've brought takeout menus home with me to share with my neighbours because they deserve treats, too. Thanks go to all of the staff members for making my day extra special!

UPDATE NOV. 28, 2024: The Chicken Korma, in its delectable creamy sauce, was absolutely delicious! Perfect with rice, of course. It was my first time ever trying Chicken Korma anywhere and won't be my last. This is THE place to go in Rexdale for the finest Indian food! Big...

I don’t even know where to start, this place is an absolute scam. The food is terrible, a complete waste of money. Their so-called “salads” are nothing more than raw lettuce with raw onions and a sprinkle of paprika thrown on top. Disgusting. To make matters worse, I actually found a hair in my food. That alone should be enough to shut a restaurant down.

I specifically told the waitress we are not Indian and asked for mild food because I can’t handle too much heat. I’m fine with spices, but not with overwhelming hotness. Did they listen? Not at all. They brought out dishes so fiery we couldn’t even eat them. It felt like they just reheated leftovers from other customers instead of making anything fresh or accommodating.

And don’t even get me started on the bread, whether you call it roti, naan, or whatever, it’s not fresh. It was clearly fried and dunked in oil just to warm it up, and the result was absolutely nasty.

This place only has good reviews because the waitress pressures customers into leaving them. Don’t be fooled. Save your hard-earned money and go anywhere else. This was garbage from...

Absolutely delicious, delicate, freshly-made and good-sized samosas! Excellent customer service by two of the staff members who were involved in my take-out order and also preparing the order in the kitchen.

The interior is beautiful. The tables are elegantly set. I really liked the music that was quietly playing which added perfectly to the atmosphere. It was a pleasure to wait the reasonable amount of time before the really nice order taker/server handed over my samosas inside a microwaveable, recyclable plastic container.

I brought my food home to thoroughly enjoy but next time I will happily dine inside the cozy dining room. Big recommendation from me!
