Hey everyone, I am finally here to provide an unbiased review of Scottybons official grand opening today on March 9th 2024.
Just to add a little context, I went undercover today... I'm actually as a legit food critique.
So let's dive right in shall we... 🍗🍤🍴
ScottyBons promoted on their IG page the grand opening, with an offering of a free jerk sandwich and also a bogo offer ( buy one get one free) evidently the bogo offer was not advertised properly, as it turns out The BOWLS are buy one get one free only. 🥴
Yes, that irritated me a bit, buy hey... I already ordered the sandwiches and in front of the cashier.
What I ordered:
Free jerk sandwich ( which only gets the coleslaw dressing) One jerk shrimp sandwich One barbeque sandwich

SIDE NOTE: I happened to be driving by Rexdale a week prior and saw the spot, so I decided to pop in. The service was very inviting and I was offered a free taste of the jerk chicken. I was immediately impressed with the quality, softness and flavour of the meat. I KNOW a good piece of jerk chicken. 😉 I decided to order a sandwich to go, based on how satisfied I was.
Ok boom, hence why I decided to pop up again on grand opening day.
I got home today and opened all 3 sandwiches to do a clear visual review first, immediately I noticed this off-putting odd smell from the meat and noticed that the texture was different. This is something only a real foodie/critique could catch.
Jerk sandwich: The taste was noticebly DIFFERENT, the bread was not fully toasted ( partial grill lines on bun) and the MEAT! The meat was nowhere close to what it was on that initial day I had stopped by! This meat was tough(hard), distasteful and the seasoning tasted different. I felt BAMBOOZLED! 🥴
Shrimp sandwich: NO. I paid almost 9 dollars for this sandwich! They used those cheap baby shrimp I never eat, and it was just absolutely NO. We all know what a smaking shrimp sandwich is supposed to taste like, THIS WAS NOT IT. OH Scotty Bons, WHYYYYYYY? 😫
Barbeque sandwich: Where was the barbeque on this thing? DEEP TIRED EXHAUSTED SIGH of disappointment.... why Scotty why? I was really rooting for you!!!!!! HUGE THIS AIN'T IT. Again, why was the meat so hard, what happened to that moist chicken from the week prior? Was that only to pull us in????
To sum it up, I am not happy about this food experience at all. I paid literally 17 dollars and only took a few bites.
One thing I will say Scotty Bons, NEVER switch up on your customers and potential customers when it comes to quality of the food, WE NOTICE THESE THINGS, and you never want to leave a bad taste in the customers mouths.
Customer Service: I give them a 8, quite attentive and friendly. Thank you for this.
Side note: If this is a Caribbean restaurant, why are there only asian and spanish workers? To be very honest, it really stands out and is odd. You should consider hiring some blk employees as well. Asides from just the cook. We notice these things. 👀👀👀👀
Anyhow all the best, but I wont be back.
Cheers.

Even those French Fries alone, without the jerk spice, were perfection to me. I will not make fries at home in hot oil because of the dangers so Scotty Bons is a great option for me.
PREVIOUSLY IN JUNE, 2024: This is a beautiful, clean and generally excellent new restaurant/take-out in the Rexdale area. John was superb, so charming, friendly, accommodating and helpful. All of the staff were very friendly every time that I returned here.
Really nice decorating. Not many tables to eat in but they do take out, of course.
My body doesn't handle spices all that well but the chicken roti with so many topics was so delicious, enough for two meals, and didn't bother my delicate stomach at all. The sandwiches were really tasty, too. Nice selection of Caribbean soft drinks in the fridge to complement the meal.
The mild beef patties were a bit too spicy for me but the crust was fantastic so I ate every delicious morsel. The best patties that I'd ever eaten anywhere, including when I'd vacationed in Jamaica! But, recently I went back for another patty and the crust was hard - not at all like before - so I'm not sure if I'll order that again when I return.
I really recommend that you try out this Scotty Bons on Rexdale Blvd. slightly west of Islington Avenue and across the road from the whole Costco complex. The storefront is set back so it's a good thing that there's a big sign out front because otherwise it might be easy to drive past it. Don't miss...
Read moreToday was our first time visiting this location. We picked up some of the very unique beef patties this location has on promotion. Our church congregation members (half of Jamaican background) were very pleased with the beautifully light and flaky beef patty pastry. They said it was probably the best beef patty pastry in Toronto GTA!! The interestingly sweet beef patty filling was the conversation topic after the outer pastry shell. None of us has ever had a beef patty that had sweet meat filling. It was truly unique. All in all, everyone enjoyed the surprising snack and 30 minute chat session that followed the snack. Our pastor asked where we bought the beef patties. We showed him the big beautiful bag and box that proudly showcased the Scotty Bons logo. He said he is going to try their other offerings tomorrow with his family.
We are grateful for Scotty Bons having this promotion that allows new potential customers to experience the unique offerings it has.
If you have not tried them yet, Run!! Don't walk!! This location looked good.. smelled good.. and the service team was...
