UPDATE AUG. 2025: The "medium" (6" so actually small in size) Firehouse Meatball Sub was absolutely delicious. Perfect. However, I felt that it was pricey: $14.12, including HST. Perhaps I could have purchased a 12" sub elsewhere for close to that total. Nice staff members. Interesting decor. A fun place to eat, especially for kids of all ages.
UPDATE JAN. 3, 2025: I'd been in a rut food-wise and I intend to explore more food possibilities in 2025, especially when it doesn't involve my needing to do the cooking of the food. Every time that I've eaten a Firehouse Sub, it has been so delicious. Today was another taste sensation. As an order to go, I purchased their promotional sub with roast beef, cheese, "jus" gravy, dill pickle spear, etc. The beef was so tender and tasty, as was the rest of the sub, the jus for dipping and also the dill pickle. I loved it and will return again soon because this is one New Year's resolution that will be easy for me to keep. The HST tax break on the price was an added bonus, too. After all, who doesn't enjoy getting a really good deal on purchases?
UPDATE NOV. 25, 2024: NOT in Rexdale Mall (2267 Rexdale Blvd.) Firehouse Subs is actually located on the LOWER LEVEL parking lot area of the Costco mall at Islington Avenue & Rexdale Blvd. in Rexdale. There are stores and restaurants on two levels. This restaurant's address is 31 Rexdale Blvd. and obviously faces Rexdale Blvd. There's even a ground level driveway leading from Rexdale Blvd. into the lower level parking lot where Firehouse Subs is located immediately on the right side upon entry to the parking lot. Firehouse Subs is easy to find.
There are other driveways leading to the lower level parking lot in this whole shopping mall/complex, such as one driveway on Islington Avenue slightly south of Rexdale Blvd. and two major driveways leading from Silver Reign Drive. off of Rexdale Blvd.
Regardless of how you arrive at Firehouse Subs, you'll be happy with the excellent, delicious subs, friendly customer service and nicely decorated dining area. With the firehall theme in decor, it's interesting to see. This would be a fun destination for kids to enjoy. Big recommendation from me to go there.
PREVIOUSLY: Finding this brand new Firehouse Subs location was a challenge for me initially because I'd wrongly assumed that it was on the main level where Costco and the other stores are located. But, there it was in the underground parking lot facing north, midway between where BMO is upstairs and the underground parking lot entry/exit on Islington Avenue. The Firehouse Subs banner and flag at Silver Reign and Rexdale Blvd. didn't give the extra, necessary detail that it's located in the underground parking lot.
Wow, was I ever rewarded for finding this fantastic new restaurant in this downtown Rexdale area!
I had a great talk with the friendly Manager and learned that the whole bottom level there will be filled with other restaurants and services in due course. Since I had never even heard of Firehouse Subs before (was I living in a cave?), I was so impressed with the fire station-related decor, the cleanliness and great customer service here. The meatball sub that I had ordered was the best sub that I've eaten anywhere in ages! I'll be back very soon to try out even more possibilities!
I was also so impressed with Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, as detailed in a poster on the wall, and explained more to me by the terrific Manager, Malev Patel. As a customer, I can make a donation at the counter and the collected monies from all customers go towards providing lifesaving resources to first responders, etc. Firehouse Subs was started by firemen and they continue the tradition of being heroic in the community, including with this emphasis on being so charitable. What other restaurant does that? Fabulous food, excellent staff and customer service, interesting decor, community-minded, supportive of our firefighters who deserve the very best, etc. I am so happy that I found this great restaurant, located in my...
Read moreI ordered and paid for a 12” sub and a 6” sub through Uber eats to feed 3 people. Uber delivered 2 6” subs. When I went into Uber eats to complain about this, Uber only offered a refund, which I took because the only offers were a refund or uber cash. I called Firehouse to complain. They apologized but their solution was offering me a free sub as long as someone goes to them to pick it up. This was not an option, which was why I used Uber. They did nothing to have the food purchased for the 3rd person to be delivered as promised by their accepting the order in the first place. The 401 & Islington location of Firehouse fails miserably in customer service and looking after their customers. There are other food outlets at 401 & Islington that properly look after...
Read moreI was happy when I found out the Firehouse is coming to my neighborhood.... Unfortunately, I still have to go to the Sherway Gardens location to get what I want and paid for... This store was good at the start, but it's not anymore... I guess it's because of the dark garage location, somewhere on the back, far from the main plaza traffic... Not many customers, so quality goes down... Today I didn't receive what I ordered Xtra BBQ sauce (it was less than a regular single portion at Sherway), and also I don't have a pickle in my box... You're craving something, you're going to order it, you're paying for it, you're coming back home - to find you still don't have it......
