When I order my rotis, I order with extra sauce. 1 because by the time I get home, even though it's only a time minute distance, the roit soaks up the gravy. 2- Because I love extra sauce. I always ask before placing my order, if they can't afford to give me extra sauce (I make sure to let them know they can charge me, but I need that extra sauce), I'll order something else. With charging 20 bucks for a roti and you guaranteed extra sauce to get home to have dry roti. Normally their food is busting out with per flavour, but this was the first time I reached for the salt shaker. No, ma'am. The doubles were very mediocre, if I've never ate from here before, I would not recommend this Trini spot for doubles or roti. I order a plain roti shell and for the price they charged, I thought it would've been fresh. It was not it was unfortunately stale. I've dropped by several times and all, but one time, they were actually open during their listed business hours. I understand that life happens, but your customers take time out of their day to travel to you to support your business, and you're playing hookie. Respect your business hours that you set, so we don't waste time and money traveling to you. When I politely mentioned this, twlling her I came several times last month, twice a week for almost a month, and how I'm so grateful they're open. She just blankly stared at me. Customer service is important in any restaurant business. I've been supporting the Danforth Roti Hut for over 15 years and was heartbroken to receive this type of service. I would always recommend this shop over any other, but after this experience- I would love to find a nice...
Read moreThe roti taste good, the only reason I gave it a 1 is because the prices have increased but the portions have decreased substantially. I've been going to this roti shop for almost 2 decades now and always suggest that friends try it but lately the feedback is the portions are quite small for the price and food is ok. I went today because I haven't gone in a while and was very disappointed. The roti was tiny, very thin, and had barely any meat. I paid almost $20 for a small roti with 6 small pieces of goat and a lot of potato. Yes I counted how much pieces I got lol because I had to eat a 2nd time to get full. I would compare the roti's thinness to that of a thick doubles lol. Again very disappointing. Looks like I'll be traveling out of my neighborhood for a good roti thats not an appetizer. Ive been driving to a few spots in Scarborough because the portions and quality of food is worth it. Please donot respond to my review to tell me I'm wrong or make excuses. Numerous friends have complained and I have now had my own experience today at lunch. Makes me wonder if this restaurant is under new management because I dont see the regular lady...
Read morePlanned & waited hours to pull off a pickup dinner while grabbing the little one from daycare. As a Caribbean local I find it very challenging to find authentic roti or doubles in the area. I tried to purchase a small duck and a side of paratha but I was told I would have to upsize to large to pay extra for paratha as I can’t just pay extra for paratha with the small ? Anyways not only is that not justifiable to spend and purchase a large meal as a single parent and the only one eating this food. I am also against food waste and know I didn’t want to commit to such a large portion.
So I tried to figure out ways to still support and try this restaurant but for a large duck with paratha and double is 29$ minus tax and tip which is a must… sadly will have to update rating when I have more money to spend to just TRY this restaurant … my gosh.
In these times we need to make sure our people can access our food !! Please change the rules to add paratha to any size meal or make an option to...
