I would never recommend anyone to go here… I was at an event there this past May 17th and asked for a beer at the bar… Jordan was the bartender and not a smile on his face, but that’s ok since I was there to meet with friends and drink a beer. Once beer was served he brought me the check with gratuity added, and I immediately told him that if I was going to leave him a tip it would be to show up with a friendly face and not add any gratuity on top of the bill without my consent, and I consider myself a great tipper, but that is not the issue as to why I am writing this, and anyone else considering to visit the establishment to take note of my experience.
I was charged twice for the beer, one with gratuity and the other without gratuity, which came out to $11.06
I only realized I was charged twice when I got back to my hotel room, and received message on my phone of both charges…
So I walk back to the bar and asked for my credit card to be refunded, which in itself the experience was like pulling teeth as Jordan got more and more defensive and loud when I demanded my refund… He finally spoke to the manager and in fact it was verified that I was charged twice on my card, and with smoke coming out of his head Jordan gave me the receipt the credit card would be refunded…
It is today June 11th and I am yet to see the charge of $13.05 credited on my credit card, and that is ultimately my complaint and writing this review, because going back there is out of the question, and would not be wasting my precious time in sharing my experience, although I feel this is my way of getting over it, and ultimately go to social media to call them out for the whole experience…
Even when I told Jordan that I had to come back after just arriving at hotel, he laughed and completely disregarded the fact that he did wrong, and would not accept responsibility.
I am attaching images of charges made to card and both receipts, in where one has the refund amount that the establishment has not yet till this day credited my card.
Hope this experience serves for anyone who chooses to visit this establishment, and by the way I am Portuguese and was visiting on...
Read moreI want to rate it 1-star, but the staff is nice and it isn't their fault that they work at the most aggressively mediocre corporate chain pub I've ever been to. This is the closest pub to my office so we default to coming here for lunch or drinks when we have enough people to warrant a pub. Think of Kelsey's and jack the price up by 50%.
Every entree has been designed to set you back $20-25 while providing the least possible satisfaction. Take my Bacon Caesar Salad, $16 with a $6 chicken "breast" add-on which consists of 1/3 of a grocery store bag of Romain lettuce, 2 strips of bacon with a pinch of bacon bits, discount bagged crutons and a bland chicken micro-breast, and something suspiciously reminiscent of Renee's Caesar dressing.
It's cool to resell grocery store foods! I understand that I'm paying for the service and the seating, but the cost of and extra 1/3 of a bag of Romaine and some in-house baked crutons would make me feel less ripped off. If you're going to call it a "Bacon Caesar" maybe it should have a reasonable amount of bacon on it because most corporate Caesar salads already have bacon bits.
I don't normally get down on restaurants if I'm not thrilled at the food because it's a hard industry, but I feel like I'm being ripped off every time I go in to the Duke, even compared to other pubs in this...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting the Duke of Cornwall on University Avenue in Toronto for a Queens University alumni event, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience.
Upon entering, I was immediately impressed by the pub's charming and cozy interior. The ambiance was perfect for a laid-back gathering with fellow alumni. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive vibe of the place.
One highlight of the Duke of Cornwall was the delightful outdoor patio. It provided a lovely setting to enjoy a few drinks with my friends while soaking in the bustling atmosphere of University Avenue.
The selection of drinks and food was top-notch, catering to various tastes and preferences. From the appetizers to the main courses, everything was delicious and satisfying.
Overall, my visit to the Duke of Cornwall was truly enjoyable, and I can confidently say that I'll be looking forward to returning in the future. Whether it's for a casual hangout or another alumni event, this pub has definitely earned its place on my list of favorite...
