Came here with my husband today and we were assisted by two young ladies whose names I didn’t catch; Vee and Shelly I believe their names were. They were welcoming and kind to us and it made our experience all the more better having them check in and asking if we needed anything. So, thank you ladies for that! It’s amazing to have a warm welcome and engaging environment when you go out for a simple meal!

The food here is exceptional and we’ve been coming here for awhile now (we usually get the tonkatsu black or shoyu ramen) and we always order one ramen with an app which suits him and I well!

We got the shoyu ramen this time. The broth is amazing -not too oily and rich in flavour- we ordered extra bamboo and egg, which paired perfectly with the thin, tender noodles! For non-alcoholic drinkers like myself, the brown rice tea pairs AMAZINGLY with their soups as it helps tackle any “greasiness” from the oils in the soup, and is an amazing palate cleanser between each bite of food. The tonkatsu black is also another favourite of mine; the crunchy black fungus gives a nice texture to the soup and adds an extra umami kick to top the soup off. Chashu pork usually gets paired with majority of their dishes and it’s an amazing cut of meat that compliments the dishes, not too much fat and they broil/torch it for that nice Smokey kick!

It’s always a pleasure coming here and being welcomed by a friendly set of staff; the food here is stellar each time I’ve come!

Thanks...

A big ramen lover here - I’ve been to more than 100 ramen places in me life and this one is close to where I live - so I’m a regular.

The food is good. But the service is the worst I’ve seen in a Japanese Ramen place. We waited like 30 mins on the street, which was fine and totally understandable. But when it was our turn, the waitress won’t let me in while my partner was away (she was literally next door getting groceries given the long wait). We almost lost our seat and get sent back to the queue b/c of that.

Okay now food. It was 2 pm and we didn’t have breakfast, so everyone is starving. We quickly ordered but waited for another 30 mins - 10 mins into the wait, we noticed that the table next to us got the exact same noodles we ordered, but they came after us. Later the waitress came to them and explained that that’s not what they ordered, so they basically got our food - but what’s the worst is, no one came to explain anything to us.

Afterwards, the next table basically immediately got what they ordered, so they have 4 bowls of ramen cooked in 10 mins, and then we had to wait another 20 for what we ordered to come. And, NO ONE SAID A THING OR APOLOGIZED TO US.

In the end, we got our ramen - but the appetizer we ordered to go with the noodles are completely cold (ofc after 30 mins). We ask if they can re-heat it up, and they did it. Finally that the first sorry we heard the whole time. Hehehe

Sorry - Never...

My family and I were along the area for an out of town visit and planned to eat at this location. We came back late from a trip elsewhere, and at this point, we were pretty exhausted and famished. We called them ahead of time and asked when their last call is at and if they're able to accomodate us given that we will be arriving pretty close (around 08:15) to their last call (08:45). The person on the phone said yes, so we headed there as fast as we could.

When we arrived at the place around 08:15, we asked if they were able to accommodate our group (of 5) and asked if there's a spot to place a stroller. The staff member kept giving vague answers, initially saying that they're not sure if we can be seated. We mentioned that we didn't mind waiting, and that's when they started saying that they're closing soon and that their last call is at 08:45 pm. We then asked again to clarify if, at this point, they can still accommodate us. They then proceeded to tell us that they don't have enough highchair that can be used. We only needed one highchair. The fact that they seemed unsure of their answers to us made it more upsetting. A clear yes or no answer would have sufficed. We just thanked them and left soon after.

The whole interaction was upsetting and completely unprofessional. We had high hopes from this place, but unfortunately, we were...

Friday lunch for a friends’ birthday and had to line up behind a group of 4 (about 1pm), the wait was about 10 minutes. We were seated at a large table (for my friend and I) and a family of 3 was seated next to us at the same table. We ordered: - Miso Black, combination of Sapporo and Tokyo style and topped off with a roasted garlic oil, tender slow cooked pork with a touch of heat called Kakuni and topped off with 1 piece of chashu, a soft boiled egg, baby shiitake mushrooms, and green onion. - Spicy Tan Tan is a spicy sesame flavour ramen topped off with a piece a chashu, a soft boiled egg, bamboo shoots, ground pork and shredded chilli pepper. - Gyoza - Fried Chicken, Chicken Karaage (Zangi), Hokkaido style. - Black sesame crepe cake It was all delicious! Broth is rich and noodles are fresh—it’s been awhile since I have had ramen. The fried chicken hit the spot (I was craving for fried chicken) and the pork gyoza was nice too—the lightest fare on the table. The crepe cake however was disappointing, it felt very ‘boring’. The ambiance was warm and friendly, the restaurant is small but charming. Staff are polite and courteous. The lack of one star is because everything was great but it didn’t blow my mind 😄

Tucked away in between many shops and restaurants loudly proclaiming their presence, you would be forgiven for not noticing Sansotei. In fact, that's what happened when I first walked by it. But it seems that quality always seems to draw in the crowd, no matter the options available around it. Quite a small and intimate ramen shop, I would say about no more than 40 seats. Simple menu, no pictures, in black and white with highlighted red. I ordered the tonkatsu black and the spicy tantan. Both came quickly with simple and beautiful presentation. The tonkatsu black was full of that wonderful garlic scent, and the broth was rich and velvet smooth. The spicy tantan smelled of porky goodness, and the broth was oh so flavourful with a touch of heat. The thin noodles I had was also very good, perfectly al dente and chewy. Service was also on point. Very attentive and friendly servers, and speedy service. Only thing I would mention is that for me, a guy in his mid 20s, the portion were a little small. But if you order an extra side of noodles (kaedama), that should do the trick. Overall, I would definitely recommend Sansotei ramen.
