Read moreI took my friend to try Colombian food for the first time. We got empanadas (must try) he got the chicken with mushrooms and I got rice with chicken and fries. My friend and I loved the empanadas and even the sauce and the chicken with mushrooms, however once we got the rice with chicken? the plate had a watery risotto consistency that traditionally the commonly known Colombian version of the dish their spin on the rice ..which im asuming is monterey jack cheese) had this smell that unfortunately put me off entirely from finishing it..since well..being Colombian myself..I was expecting a familiar taste...not a cheesy taste.
I wasnât a fan of how it smelt like old cheese and how the rice was pretty much melted and watered by the cheese. I believe if you are offering a Colombian experience its good to try other ingredients to add authenticity, but sometimesâŠin some other cases its better to stick to old customsâŠ
Overall a good experience, but if you're looking for a taste of home...maybe try...
Read moreVisited with a friend on a weekend for lunch. We got their empanadas, patacon con camadores y guacamole, and bandeja paisa. The empanadas were average. The patacon con camadores y guacamole was tasty and had a generous serving of guacamole but needed lime or something citrusy added to the dish (in my opinion). Their bandeja paisa was one of the better ones that Iâve tried in terms of the meat (steak, pork crackling, sausage). Iâm not always a fan of the steak that comes with this dish (because it can be overcooked at times) but here, it was fantastic!
The staff were all friendly and attentive plus they had a live singer (on the second floor) while we were there. Not sure if itâs a regular thing that they do or a one-off performance, but we appreciated the added ambiance! Just note, that it can be a touch loud if you sit right by the performer because itâs a small space and their speaker is quite loud. Overall, we had a nice time and would go back to try different things...
