My visit to Fox and Fiddle, a place I used to frequent, turned into an utmost frustrating experience that I feel compelled to share. The treatment my friend and I received on our latest visit was BEWILDERING and UNACCEPTABLE.
Upon arrival, we, along with other groups who walked in, were left standing and waiting for some period. Despite this, we were singled out to order drinks while standing, a request we complied with under the assumption it was standard procedure for those waiting(apparently, it wasn't the standard procedure because we were only two people that the manager forced his waitresses to have us buy drinks and even pay upfront). Then, we were guided to stand near where people were playing darts and pool, drinks in hand, without any seating provided.
As if this wasn’t frustrating enough, the turning point came when we noticed several groups, who arrived after us, being promptly seated without any clear reason why they were prioritized over us. This blatant disregard for fairness and the apparent arbitrary treatment raised serious questions about the establishment's policies and respect for its customers.
Seeking clarity, I approached the assumably the manager(black, skinny tall, bald), hoping for an explanation or at least some understanding. Instead, I was met with indifference and a dismissive attitude, being told, 'I didn't guarantee you a seat. There was no promise in any regards. You two were blocking the way' This response was not only shocking but also highlighted a profound lack of customer service and basic courtesy. We were literally standing next to where everyone was waiting, being the first on the line.
It is essential to recognize that dissatisfaction in a service context is directed at the service provided, not at any inherent attributes of the people providing it. As someone who values inclusivity and understanding, I am by no means suggesting any form of racial discrimination played a part in this encounter. My aim is to highlight areas where improvements are necessary for the establishment to treat all customers with the respect and fairness they deserve, irrespective of background.
It's clear to me now that Fox and Fiddle has a serious issue with how they treat their customers and manage their establishment. Such arbitrary and unfair treatment is not only disrespectful but also undermines the loyalty of regulars. This incident has significantly damaged my view of this place, and I strongly urge potential customers to consider how such practices reflect on the establishment's overall culture and values.
I write this review not out of spite but in the hope that it will prompt Fox and Fiddle to reevaluate their customer service and management practices. No one should have to endure what we experienced, and it's high time the establishment recognizes and...
Read moreWow, where to begin. I will start by saying our server who was also working the bar, was great. Really good attitude, attentive, and understood our needs. That's unfortunately where the good news ends.
$21 for mac 'n cheese, $21 for fish 'n chips, and if you wanted a second piece, it was another $6!! I ordered the burger and fries ($20) and asked for mayo. "That will be an extra $1 charge". Same for extra pickles, but they were kind and said they swapped out the onions which I didn't want for the pickles. How giving of them! Burger wasn't anything special, but it was decent, fries were okay, as well as the fish my friend ordered. I asked if it would be a cost for extra ketchup, and no surprise, it was! We found out later that they actually used to use bigger ketchup dispensers (those tiny clear cups), but they downsized them. It was to the point that we thought they would charge us extra for napkins! Oh, and the relish and mustard come in a little take out style pack.
Cheap, cheap, CHEAP!! Talk about a place that nickles and dimes it's patrons!!
For the record, we had passed another pub on the next corner just east of them and chose this place instead. We stopped in on the way back to the car to check their menu, and prices were barely 2/3's the price!!
This is what happens when you let corporations run restaurants. They will squeeze every penny they can out of you. It was rather insulting... never returning to this place again. Two stars, and one of them is for the service we received,...
Read moreThis street has so many restaurants to eat, choose anywhere else. They were understaffed, which isn't the server's fault but definitely resulted in poor service. Order was taken, not written down, came back like 5 minutes later to take the entire order again and write it down this time, that's fine she appeared to be one of the only servers. The appetizer never came, it end up coming last after the food which again, okay it was busy but it was wrong. We ordered cauliflower bites clearly twice, and got chicken bites. Fine, she took it away and got it replaced with the right item. I ordered the cobb salad which is a favourite according to the icon on the menu, it tasted fine until I found a dead fly right in the middle of it. Gross. She did take it back, ask if I wanted something else instead but got me a new salad. We ate, the burgers the other people at the table got were not good and they mentioned them being poor quality and not like they used to be. We ordered dessert to at least end the meal with something sweet. Get the bill only to find out they didn't even bother to comp the meal with the dead bug in it. I opted to pay, tip and leave despite the disappointment. I'm not going to argue with the server over it, the poor management of the place I'm sure is on whoever runs this place and not her personally. I simply won't waste my time and...
