Ahhhh!! I can’t believe I have written a review yet. Found out about Gaucho I believe a year or so ago and it is a game changer!! Legit best empanadas in the city. I have plenty of photos to share for you all :) I’ll have to dig through my old phone.
In the meantime my current faves are the og gaucho empanada and their la sentena, I’ve tried most of their menu minus the vegetarian section.. tried the aloo gobi but it wasn’t my thing
Their tres leches is chefs kiss super sweet but still 10/10 recommend. I’ve yet to try their bulgogi though, I’ll have to place an order for that soon :) - written 1 year ago.
Edit Oct 8, 2022: the shop has expanded and I couldn't be happier for the Gaucho family ❤️. The space is beautiful and now they carry merch, traditional Argentinian mate and more. I'll always recommend this shop to everyone. Their empanadas are delicious and come in a full range of flavours, alfajores are fresh and sweet and we can't forger about their tres leches. So happy for you guys!
I've posted more photos as well for...
Read moreMy (vegetarian) Argentine friend and I got a chance to finally make the trek to check out Gaucho, and he did mention it was his favourite Argentine (vege) empanadas after trying a couple places around Toronto.
For me, I loved how soft, light and non-greasy pastry was. It was so light, I thought I just needed to eat 2 but ended up eating 4 as a snack!
The flavours on the other hand were okay except for one. I tried the Traditional Gaucho (boring, not that tasty), Big Mac (oily/greasy), Chimichurri Chicken (mehh), but the Lamb was the only one I truly enjoyed and would go back for. I'll try to come back for the Butter chicken one
The real stars of this place were...the desserts! The tres leches (and my friend strongly said this is Mexican...) was soooooo good with that toasted coconut, I wished I bought a larger size to take home. The Alfajores was also good, so delicate and crumbly, I'm definitely a fan and will try the chocolate...
Read moreSo happy to have discovered this little gem while walking on Geary Ave. (Chalk board sign). It's located at 346 Westmorland slightly off the 'beaten path' of Geary Ave. (need to go inside and down a short hall - well worth it!).
Another unique and super delicious (take out) food experience in the Geary neighborhood to go along with Famiglia Baldassarre pasta and knockout ice cream.
Authentic empanadas with a twist...butter chicken, pork + kimchi, jerk Chicken, pepperoni, and many other incredible fillings that represent many of Canada's nationalities (available fresh and frozen).
The crust is thin and perfect (not doughy, like so many others). The fillings are so we'll executed, so diverse, and very flavourful.
The best empanadas you'll find in...
