Great restaurant! I’ve been at Martins a few times and I’m always very satisfied with the food, the service and the selections. The menu is in both Portuguese and English and the wait staff are fluent in both languages. As soon as you sit down they bring bread, butter and olives to your table and take your drink orders. Now, bread is my weakness and I love bread but don’t fill up on it. You’re order will be out very soon. Ok, maybe just one piece of bread. They’re all very friendly and don’t make you feel rushed. I’ve tried a few of their dishes, the cowboy steak, the chicken, a codfish dish and their famous octopus. Let me tell you that nobody, I mean nobody, cooks octopus better than my mom but they come a very close second. It was perfectly cooked and the portion size is perfect. I would highly recommend this dish to everyone. My wife and youngest son had the Seabream (noteworthy: the fish is served in its entirety, meaning head and eyes are still on) and that dish was amazing as well. My older son ordered the Home Steak and the cook on the steak was perfect the portions were perfect. We also shared their Red House wine and I would recommend it. They also bring you 2 bottles of olive oil, one spicy one regular and vinegar. We’re not dessert people but we were celebrating my youngest son’s Birthday (btw he picked the place for us to have dinner he really loves the place) so I had a Pastel de Nata, which they bake there in the restaurant and it was probably the best Nata I’ve had, and I’ve had them in Belem Portugal where they originated from. My wife had the drunken pear and that was also very nice, truth be told though I’m glad I went the Nata route. There’s plenty of parking and the restaurant is on first floor. Easy access for people with mobility issues. The bathroom could use an extra garbage bin inside and one just outside the bathroom. The restaurant is very family friendly and it’s not uncommon to see big parties there. I would suggest you make reservations before heading over. They also have a take out section with plenty to choose from. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. The prices are on par with all other restaurants. Here’s a few pics of our dishes. Came here and had high hopes as the menu looked promising. The service at first was great. The servers were friendly and chatty. We came on a Wednesday night around 7:30pm and there were only 4 other tables apart from ours. The restaurant was fairly bright and the tables were nicely spread apart so that there was enough space to move around. There were 3 of us for dinner and so we decided to order 3 different main dishes to share. They were all pretty good size portions.
BACALHAU À BRÁS - fairly large size portion and pretty tasty. I’ve had better elsewhere, but this was still good.
CARNE DE PORCO À ALENTEJANA - good flavours; however, the pork was a bit dry, even though it was a bit of a saucy dish.
PICANHA GRELHADA - grilled rump steak, served with black beans, French fries, and rice. This dish was terrible and I would NOT recommend! The steak was chewy and tough. When we told the server about this all he said to us was “well, sometimes that happens” and walked away. So, you’re basically telling people that sometimes it just happens that you serve terrible food and you still expect people to pay full price for it. Because of this dish alone and the server’s response to our feedback about the dish, I will never go back to this place again and I do not recommend this place at all.

Update: Hi there thanks for replying to our review. Yes I spoke with you several days later after the fact. As mentioned my family member whom is also a chef confirmed that it was in fact parasites and not cartilage as you stated it was. The female whom we spoke with the day of our initial order stated that she can replace the exact same meals if we picked it up in person. First, why would we want a replacement of the exact same thing we’re complaining about? Secondly, if we were able to go out of our way to pick up food half way across town we would of gone elsewhere closer to us. Lastly, you also stated that Uber gave us a fully refund which is not the case. We didn’t receive any refund back from this order l, in fact we didn’t even hear back from Uber regarding this order. Things happen & hopefully everyone can use this as a learning experience. Have a great day!
PARASITES found inside our fish. Placed an order for 2 fried sole fish dinners. Both our fish had parasites. When we contacted the restaurant the girl stated we can go pick up another order of the same dinner or contact Uber for a refund as we placed the order via Uber. I’m shocked that was there only response considering there was parasites in our food and not an easy complaint of temperature or something. Uber was just as unhelpful as this restaurant.
