Got the Original Everything Bento. The sign says it's $14. The $14 box is not worth it for $14. It's so damn small. The large box is $20... And I don't think that the bento was worth $20. Nowhere on the menu did it say that the large box is $20. But, I digress. The food itself was decent. The chicken kaarage was juicy. The chicken skin was crispy and crunchy. There were 2 somewhat big pieces of kaarage in the box. The croquette was like some really good mash potatoes deep fried. The 3 takoyaki balls were decent. Tastes as it should. Everything in the box was doused with a heavy layer of spicy mayo. The edamame tasted good, the shredded pickled ginger was strong and helped cut through all that flavour. The purple rice had some flavour going on with it too. It was light, but it did taste somewhat sweet. There's a picnic table right out in front of Gushi Japanese Street Food shop. At the time of day, the table was directly in the sun. I had to wait about 10 minutes to receive my food. Food was decent, tasty. Filled my stomach. Would I come back here again? Not for that price I won't. Probably should have just gone to Nom Nom Nom Poutine instead. At least their basic poutine is under $10 for a good portion of food, I hear.

Let me start by saying BEST JAPANESE STREET FARE IN TORONTO!! This is one of my favourite places to grab a quick bite to eat. Located on Dundas St W along with other great shipping container restaurants. This is a must visit! My favourite dish is the original Takoyaki on a bed of purple rice (I have heard amazing things of the karaage but I could never turn down Takoyaki). The Takoyaki is perfectly fried without feeling too oily. The real star is the sauce a mild mayo that adds a bit of creaminess to both the rice and your protein. The pickled ginger is a nice pop of vinegar to break apart the richness. The rice (quinoa is an option as well) is perfect vessel to hold everything together and fill you up. I definitely plan to come back a couple of times and try out their entire menu. **Tip: try avoiding the lunch rush, this is a very popular spot for nurses due to the proximity of the hospital and can extend your wait.

This was my first time trying Japanese street food and I absolutely loved it. Gushi is located on Market 707 on Dundas West (they have another location on Gerrard Street, with different hours of operation) and they have a few picnic tables available in front of the market for you to sit down and enjoy your meal. They have great customer service; very friendly and helpful staff; we were asking many questions about menu and he patiently helped us pick the right options. We ordered “Hot Maple Chicken Skewer” and “Takoyaki” for appetizer, “Original Chicken Karaage Bento”, “Shrimp Fry Curry Rice” and “Nanban Beef Katsu Rice Bowl” for main, and “Mochi Trio” and “3 Color Dango Mochi” for dessert. Everything was presented very nicely and tasted amazing. My favorites were Takoyaki and Original Chicken Karaage Bento. In my opinion, Bento is a must-try here.
